
Wichita Wild Vs. Omaha Beef - April 6 Game Preview

WICHITA, KS- The Wichita Wild of the Indoor Football League (IFL) will travel to Omaha Nebraska to take on Omaha Beef this Friday, April 6th. This is the second time the Wild will travel to Omaha to play the Beef this season. The last game the Wild met the Beef in Omaha they lost a heartbreaker, falling just 4 points short of the victory in a final score of 35-38. The Wild enter Friday night's game with a 1-4 record while Omaha currently sits at 2-2. The game is scheduled to kickoff at 7:05pm (CST) at the Omaha Civic Auditorium.
Omaha had a bye last weekend and will likely have fresh legs entering Friday night's game. Two weeks ago, Omaha lost a close game to the Green Bay Blizzard in a final score of 43-37. Omaha's Defense is currently 7th in the IFL allowing 44.3 points per game, while their Offense sits in 12th, averaging 40.8 points per game
The Wichita Wild are coming off a high note, winning the team's first game of the season against the New Mexico Stars last week. A defensive battle throughout, the first half ended with both teams scoring only field goals. The Wild's Offense found their stride in the second half, with backup Quarterback Marcus Jackson pounding in a 5 yard touchdown run, a touchdown pass to Wide Receiver Kyle Riffle, and a 34 yard touchdown run by Tywon Hubbard. The Stars fought back several times, but ultimately the Wild walked away with the win; final score 31-24.
With Wild Quarterback Phil Staback out approximately 2-3 more weeks, the Wild have brought veteran Quarterback PeeJay Jack into practice this week. Jack, a graduate of Western Connecticut State University, has played for the Orlando Predators of the AFL and the River City Rage formerly of the IFL. At 6'3, 245lb, the PeeJay will join the Wild with a lot of experience under his belt. Jack may or may not see playing time this weekend.
Key Matchup: Wild Defense vs. Beef Offense
The Wild showed sold improvement on Defense last weekend, holding the New Mexico Starts to just 24 points. However the Wild Defense should expect to have their hands full Friday night against an Omaha Offensive, led by Quarterback James McNear, who are currently averaging 40.8 points per game.
