April 12, 2012 - Indoor Football League (IFL)
Wichita Wild News Release

WICHITA, KS- The Wichita Wild of the Indoor Football League (IFL) will hit the road to take on the Nebraska Danger this Saturday, April 14th. The game will be played out of the Heartland Event Center in Grand Island, Nebraska; kickoff is scheduled at 7:05pm (CST). This will be the first meeting of the season between the Wild and the Danger. The Wild is entering the game on a two game winning streak after dropping the first four games of the season, while the Danger will enter the game with a 1-4 record.

The Nebraska Danger are coming off a loss to the Everett Raptors last Thursday night, final score 52-35. Quarterback Rocky Hinds completed 7 of 18 passes for 77 yards, 1 touchdown and 3 interceptions. Nebraska's Corey Surrency had 7 catches for 63 yards and 1 touchdown, leading the Danger's receivers. Nebraska has had several other tough losses to start off the 2012 season, including losses to the Tri-Cities Fever, Wyoming Cavalry, and Allen Wranglers. The one win the Danger have clinched this season was in week 3 over the Omaha Beef, the same team defeated by the Wild last Friday night.

Wichita had a hard fought battle that ended with a win for the Wild last weekend against the Omaha Beef, final score 49-47. Quarterback Marcus Jackson, completed 15 of 27 passes for 149 yards and 1 touchdown. Jackson's favorite receiver Doug Pierce had 4 receptions for 62 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Wild Defense, led by Joe Kassanavoid with 8 tackles, played steady holding the Beef to 227 total yards. However, the highlight of the game came from Wild Kicker James Chandler who kicked an IFL record breaking 62-yard field goal, debatably serving as the deciding factor to the Wild's two point win over the Beef.

Key Match-up: Wichita's Secondary vs. Nebraska's Receivers

There's no doubt that Wichita's Secondary has struggled throughout times over the first 6 games of the season. They will have their hand full once again this Saturday night when they take on a very talented core of Nebraska Wide Receiver.

The Wichita Wild will return home to Hartman Arena on April 28th when they take on the Allen Wrangler.
