Wichita Inks Rookie Outfielder Clanin

June 10, 2018 - American Association (AA) - Wichita Wingnuts News Release

WICHITA, Kan. - The Wichita Wingnuts added a rookie with local ties on Sunday, signing former Pittsburg State outfielder Hunter Clanin.

Clanin will be a true rookie making his professional debut with the Wingnuts after two seasons in Pittsburg, where he hit exactly .347 in both years as a Gorilla. The right-handed hitter combined to launch 13 home runs in those two campaigns, adding 31 doubles and six triples. He helped Pitt State to an NCAA regional appearance in 2018 as a senior, notching three hits in the Gorillas opening round game against Augustana.

The Columbus, Ohio, native originally began his collegiate career at Bowling Green State University, seeing action in 63 games over two seasons and logging 20 hits, including five doubles. A versatile defender, Clanin spent time at catcher in addition to his time in the outfield.

The addition of Clanin brings the Wingnuts active roster up to 22. The outfielder will wear #20 and be in uniform for the Wingnuts in their series finale against the Kansas City T-Bones.

The Wingnuts and T-Bones conclude their series on Sunday afternoon, as lefty Casey Harman (2-1, 1.12) gets the start for Wichita against Kansas City right-hander Lucas Irvine (1-0, 3.17). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM and will be broadcast on 1410 AM/93.9 FM KGSO, TuneIn and americanassociationbaseball.tv.
