
WHL Announces Full Eastern Conference Schedule

Edmonton, AB - The Western Hockey League unveiled its 2021-22 Eastern Conference schedule in its entirety earlier today.
The Edmonton Oil Kings will play a 68-game schedule, 34 games at home and 34 games on the road, against only Eastern Conference opponents this season. Of the Oil Kings 34 home games, 25 will be played on Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays.
As previously announced, the Oil Kings will open their schedule on Friday, October 1 when they host the Red Deer Rebels and welcome fans back to Rogers Place for the first time in 18 months.
The Oil Kings are committed to delivering a game experience this fall that places fan health and safety at the forefront, though they do not expect fan restrictions at Rogers Place.

SCHEDULE BREAKDOWN
The Oil Kings will face off against their Central Division rival Red Deer Rebels more than any other team during the 2021-22 season with 10 matchups (five home, five away) versus their QEII foes. They will see their other divisional rivals Calgary Hitmen, Medicine Hat Tigers and Lethbridge Hurricanes eight times each (four home, four away) and the Swift Current Broncos six times (three home, three away).
Edmonton will have four interdivisional games (two home, two away) against each of the Winnipeg ICE, Brandon Wheat Kings, Regina Pats and Moose Jaw Warriors and six interdivisional games (three home, three away) against the Saskatoon Blades and Prince Albert Raiders.
Most Oil Kings home games are scheduled for 7:00 PM at Rogers Place, except for Sunday games which will have a 4:00 PM opening faceoff. The Hockey Hooky game (February 8) will have an 11:00 AM start time and Family Day Monday (February 21) will have a 2:00 PM puck drop.
The Oil Kings longest homestand this season will be from February 15 to March 2 when they play seven straight games at Rogers Place against seven different opponents; the Red Deer Rebels (February 15), Saskatoon Blades (February 19), Winnipeg ICE (February 21), Regina Pats (February 25), Prince Albert Raiders (February 26), Medicine Hat Tigers (March 2) and Calgary Hitmen (March 4). Their longest road trip will come following the Christmas break when they vacate Rogers Place during the IIHF World Juniors when they'll play seven straight road games from December 27 to January 9.
The Oil Kings will release a full promotional schedule at a later date.
