
WHL and CHL Announces 2009-10 Broadcast Schedule on Rogers Sportsnet

Toronto, ON - The Western Hockey League in association with the Canadian Hockey League and Rogers Sportsnet today announced the 2009-10 schedule of national and regional WHL and CHL regular season games that will be broadcast live on Rogers Sportsnet and RDS.
CHL fans across Canada have the opportunity to watch some of the top teams in the WHL, QMJHL, and OHL compete live on Rogers Sportsnet with eight nationally broadcasted regular season games including the 2010 OHL All-Star Classic and two QMJHL games available on RDS, as well as 11 games shown on regional Rogers Sportsnet channels.
In addition to regular season game coverage, Rogers Sportsnet will also broadcast four playoff games along with all CHL national events. All six games of the 2009 Subway Super Series were broadcast nationally by Rogers Sportsnet with the two QMJHL games shown on RDS in November. National event coverage continues on Rogers Sportsnet and RDS with the 2010 Home Hardware CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game on Wednesday January 20, 2010 in Windsor, ON, and highlighted by the 2010 MasterCard Memorial Cup in Brandon, MB, from May 14-23, 2010.
The puck drops on the 2009-10 regular season CHL broadcast schedule on Rogers Sportsnet this Sunday December 6, 2009, when the Chilliwack Bruins host the Vancouver Giants in a battle between the top two teams in the WHL's B.C Division. The game will be shown live at 5:00 pm Pacific Time on RSN Pacific, as well as 6:00 pm MT on RSN West and 8:00 pm ET on RSN Ontario.

Additional playoff games and broadcast times will be announced at a later date. The 2010 MasterCard Memorial Cup features the host Brandon Wheat Kings Hockey Club with champions from the WHL, OHL, and QMJHL competing for the national championship. All six round-robin games, playoff tiebreaker (if necessary), semi-final, and championship final will all be broadcast by Rogers Sportsnet and RDS from May 14-23 with specific times to be announced at a later date.
The CHL and Rogers Sportsnet, partners since 1998, announced a five-year partnership extension in May, 2009.
