Whitfield Returns for Second Year with the A's

October 3, 2014 - National Basketball League of Canada (NBL Canada) - Orangeville A's News Release

Flenard Whitfield will be back this year helping the A's finish what they started in their inaugural season.

The 6'7, 225 lb power forward from Detroit, MI and Western Michigan University averaged a respectable 9 points and 6 rebounds per game in his first season with the A's. Whitfield provided much needed strength in the low post against the bigger players in the league.

Whitfield spent the majority of the summer in Orangeville, ON with many of his A's teammates working on his game.  GM/Head Coach David Magley supervised the workouts and had this to say, "I was so very impressed by Flenard's commitment to improve every aspect of his game this summer.  It was rare that I did not see him in the training facility, whether he was doing individual work in the gym or competing in a league or pick up game; he was working every single day.  The results will be an improved player, one who has added more weapons to his offensive arsenal and one that we will be relying quite a bit on this coming season."

The A's will kick off their season October 21st, with a "Toonie Tuesday" pre-season game at home, where fans will get in for just $2. The regular season starts as the A's host its Peel rival, the Mississauga Power, Saturday November 1st, 7pm at the Powerade Centre.
