Whitecaps Calling on Fans for the Next Great Food Item(s)

COMSTOCK PARK, MI - The 2015 Midwest League Champion West Michigan Whitecaps and Daily Deals Food Outlet are teaming up to look for ideas for some championship food items to be served at Fifth Third Ballpark this year. Starting today, fans can submit ideas for what new food items they would like to see served at Fifth Third Ballpark this summer.

This is the seventh year that a food item submitted by fans will be on the Fifth Third Ballpark menu. Past winners include the Declaration of Indigestion, Baco (a taco shell made of bacon), and last year's winner, the Hot-to-Tot (a delicious combination of tater tots, hot sauce and bleu cheese).

"This promotion is one of my favorites," said Katie Johnson Whitecaps Food and Beverage Manager. "We look forward to reading all of the creative ideas. The fans like trying to come up with the next big food item for us."

Submissions will be taken through Friday, January 29. They can be made through the Whitecaps facebook page (facebook.com/wmwcaps), twitter account (@wmwhitecaps), Instagram account (instagram.com/whitecaps) or via e-mail at playball@whitecapsbaseball.com. All submissions should be accompanied by a complete description and a picture, if possible.

The food idea submissions will be whittled down, and starting Wednesday, February 24, fans will be able to vote for their choice for the new 2016 concessions item. Voting will take place on the Whitecaps website, www.whitecapsbaseball.com. The winning entry will be on the menu for all fans to enjoy.

The Whitecaps open the 2016 season on Saturday, April 9 against the South Bend Cubs at 4:00 pm. Season and group tickets are now on sale; individual tickets will go on sale in February.
