Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings News Release

HARLINGEN - White Wings Manager Eddie Dennis has announced the signing of three more players for the 2006 season, including a righthanded pitcher recently released from the Philadelphia Phillies spring training camp.

The White Wings now have seven players under contract, with the United League Baseball tryout camp less than two weeks away. The camp will be held April 7-9 in Clearwater, Florida.

Peter Henyan, a 23-year-old righty from the Phillies organization, has signed with the White Wings. Henyan, 6-0, 195 pounds, is a native of New York. Last year at Batavia, Henyan sported a 2-0 record and 4.46 ERA in 38.1 innings pitched. He had 24 strikeouts and 18 walks.

"They had too many players in camp from what I understand," Dennis stated of Henyan's release from the Phillies. "He comes very highly recommended from several major league coaches."

Also signing with the White Wings are Sonel Sena, a 24-year-old catcher/outfielder who formerly played in the Baltimore Orioles organization, and A. J. Bozenhard, a 21-year-old righthanded pitcher from St. Petersburg, Florida. Sena, a native of the Dominican Republic, hit .357 in nine games played in the Gulf Coast League in 2000.

The WhiteWings, part of the six-team ULB, are scheduled to open the 2006 season Tuesday, May 16, against the Edinburg Coyotes at 7:05 p.m. at Harlingen Field. Other teams in the league include Laredo, San Angelo, Amarillo and Alexandria, LA. Each team will play a 90 game regular season schedule with 45 home and away dates. The regular season will conclude Aug. 23, and the playoffs will be completed by Labor Day.
