Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings News Release

HARLINGEN - The Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings professional baseball team is currently looking for a few special families to serve as host families for the WhiteWings' players during the 2006 season.

Being a host family presents a unique opportunity to be a part of the baseball season unlike any other, by providing a summer home for a WhiteWings player.

The 2006 WhiteWings' season runs from May 16 to Sept. 4. Host families would need to make their homes available for a White Wings player or players from approximately May 6-Sept. 4.

When the WhiteWings were here previously, Andy Buitron and family served as one of the host families at their Rancho Viejo home, taking up to three players. At the time, Buitron said it was a rewarding experience to see these young men play, and he felt like he was part of the team by having them live at his home. By being a host family, it provides the team and ballclub with priceless support.

The WhiteWings staff will work hard to carefully match each host family with the needs of the family and the needs of the player. Hopefully, by the end of the season your player will become part of the family.

Each host family will receive two 2006 season tickets for each player they are hosting from the WhiteWings for each player.

'With the small amount of money these guys make, it's imperative that we find quality individuals who will open up their houses," stated White Wings General Manager Cory Dirksen. 'I have found that from year to year we have a lot of the same people asking to be host families. I believe that is from the bonds they develop with the players."

If you are looking for an unforgettable experience and would like to consider being a 2006 host family, contact the WhiteWings at (956) 412-9464 for more details.
