August 7, 2006 - Pioneer League (PL)
Great Falls Voyagers News Release

DÉJÀ VU ALL OVER AGAIN: The White Sox stumbled in the opener of their two game series with Billings last evening 8-4 to fall to 2-6 in the Pioneer League season's second half. While Great Falls belted it's ninth homer in the last five games (on a Lee Cruz solo blast in the 8th inning) it continued to struggle defensively and in relief. The White Sox committed three errors, bringing their season total to a league high 103, accounting for two unearned runs. And on the mound the trio of Pat Feehan, Andrew Urena and Tim Sabo yielded a total of five runs in four innings of work. Poor defense and relief work have plagued the club over the past two weeks resulting in 8 losses in the last 10 games.

IT'S DAY TONIGHT: RHP Tim Day is hoping his 10th start proves the charm for his first victory of the season on the mound. The 23 year old Cincinnati, Ohio native brings an 0-2 mark into tonight's match-up with the Mustangs. The Chicago White Sox '05 12th round pick out of Michigan State University was the team's opening night starter June 20 at Billings, lasting just two plus innings in which he surrendered six earned runs on nine hits in a 12-2 Sox loss to the Mustangs. His second start versus Billings was much better as he allowed two earned runs on five hits in five innings of work June 30 in a 7-5 Great Falls triumph. Day's last outing was a bit shaky as he permitted five earned runs on twelve hits in 5.2 frames on the mound in a 13-12 loss at Missoula August 1.

ON THE LEADER BOARD: White Sox first baseman Chris Carter is setting the pace in the Pioneer League in homers (12), doubles (15), slugging percentage (.652), and extra-hits (28). Carter's second in RBI (37), fourth in on-base percentage (.415), hits (52) and runs scored (30). RHP Ramon Sanchez is tied for the league lead in wins (5). He's third in innings pitched (48.2). LHP Logan Williamson is currently eighth in ERA (3.10) and third in innings pitched (49.1).

HOW THE SOX STACK UP: The Sox continue to lead the Pioneer League in home runs (42), while placing third in overall hitting (.272) and hits collected (426). Great Falls is sixth in runs scored (238).
