White Sox announce 2004 Warthogs' field staff

Winston-Salem, NC – The Chicago White Sox have announced the 2004 coaching staffs for their minor league affiliates. Ken Dominguez will manage the Warthogs after serving as their hitting coach in 2003. Dominguez takes over for Razor Shines, who led the Warthogs to the 2003 Carolina League title and was assigned to manage the White Sox AA affiliate in Birmingham, AL. J.R. Perdew returns to Winston-Salem for his third straight season as pitching coach. The Warthogs' hitting coach has yet to be announced by the White Sox.

Dominguez begins his fourth season in the White Sox organization, spending 2001 and 2002 as hitting coach with the Kannapolis Intimidators of the South Atlantic League. Dominguez began his coaching career in the New York Yankees organization. In 11 seasons with the Yankees, Dominguez spent four years as hitting coach and seven years as manager in their minor league system. Dominguez has compiled a managing record of 236-212 with the Tampa Yankees (1991, 1996-1999) of the Gulf Coast League and the Oneonta Yankees (1993-1994) of the New York-Penn League. Dominguez garnered GCL Manager of the Year in 1996 while leading the Tampa Yankees to the Gulf Coast League title. Dominguez also spent one year in the Carolina League as hitting coach in 1992 with the Prince William Yankees. Ken earned his master's degree from Western Kentucky and his bachelor's from Southern Benedictine College.

Perdew begins his sixth season as a pitching coach in the White Sox organization. He has earned three championship rings while with the White Sox in 1998 with Bristol, 2000 with Burlington, and 2003 in Winston-Salem. Perdew obtained his masters degree in education from Frostburg (Md.) College and played baseball at George Mason University from 1986-87, compiling a 15-5 record. He entered the major-league draft following his junior season in 1986 but did not sign before he served in the U.S. Marines Corps.

Josh Fallin returns for his fourth season as the Warthogs' trainer. The Warthogs open the season at Kinston on April 9, 2004.
