Seattle Storm News Release
LAS VEGAS, NV - Sami Whitcomb scored 28 points to tie the record for most first round points in the STARRY® WNBA 3-Point Contest, but Sabrina Ionescu's all-time NBA and WNBA 38-point all-tournament record in the second round was just too far out of reach.
Whitcomb combined for 52 points total, the tournament's third-best in history, on 33-of-54 (61.1%). She fired up for 24 points in the final round, the fifth best second-round mark in the contest's history, connecting on 16-of-27.
The six-player field included 3FG% season leader Jackie Young (Las Vegas Aces), second-best in the league in three-points made Sabrina Ionescu (New York Liberty), as well as DiJonai Carrington (Connecticut Sun), Kelsey Mitchell (Indiana Fever), and Arike Ogunbowale (Dallas Wings).
AT&T WNBA All-Star 2023 festivities continue tomorrow, July 15, at 5:30 p.m. PT as Team Wilson and Team Stewart, which includes Storm's Jewell Loyd and Ezi Magbegor, take to the court for the AT&T WNBA All-Star Game. Fans can watch nationally on ESPN.
