Quad City Steamwheelers News Release

After a 48-21 victory over the Cincinnati Swarm, Quad City Steamwheelers players and coaches took Sunday to get out and about in the community. Some took in a baseball game; others watched the AFL on NBC at a local bar, and then met up at a local volleyball tournament before capping the night by singing karaoke at a local bar.

K Paul Savich started his day by taking in a Quad City River Bandits Class A baseball game. Savich saw the Bandits win their seventh of eleven games by a final score of 2-0 over the Kane County Cougars.

Head coach Rich Ingold, QB Tony Zimmerman, Equipment Manager Phil Hayek and Media Relations Manager Ryan Holtmann got together at Jimmy B'z Restaurant to watch former Steamwheelers FB/LB Frank Trentadue (Arizona Rattlers), WR/LB Chris Anthony (New York Dragons), DS Cornelius Coe (Los Angeles Avengers) and DS Brent Browner (Detroit Fury) battle for the rights to move onto the semi-final round of the ArenaBowl XVII playoffs. Trentadue is the only ‘Wheeler still left in the playoffs.

After the game Savich, Ingold, Zimmerman, Hayek, and Holtmann met up with Line coach Jon Roehlk, OL/DL Cory Bern, FB/LB Josh Fourdyce, Marketing Coordinator Heather Gomez and Game Operations Manager Todd Terry at the "Three on Third Sand Volleyball Tournament." The tournament, which took place one block from the Steamwheelers front office, was in its final day of the first ever tournament. The Steamwheelers watched the championship match and hung out with fans for the remainder of the afternoon.

Ingold and Holtmann cut away for a little bit, as it was time for Ingold to do his weekly telecast on the NBC affiliate KWQC-TV6, "Wheeler Watch," which airs every Sunday night after the news with host Thom Cornelis.

The last stop of the day was the Davenport, Iowa bar & grill, the Rusty Nail. The karaoke machine was going and much to the delight of the crowd, Ingold, Zimmerman, Savich, Fourdyce, Hayek and Holtmann put on a two-song show for the Steamwheelers fans. They started the set with "Jack and Diane" by John Cougar Mellancamp and finished the set with "Hurt So Good" also by Mellancamp. Despite the fans request, two was enough for the ‘Wheelers as they called it a night after enjoying dinner.

The ‘Wheelers will be back in action this Saturday night at The MARK of the Quad Cities as they will take on the Cincinnati Swarm at 7:30 p.m. Good seats are still available and can be purchased at The MARK box office or through TicketMaster at www.ticketmaster.com or by calling 563.326.1111.
