Macon Trax News Release
[Macon, Ga.]âJust a few weeks ago Byron, Ga. resident Tom Wheel bought 10-percent of the Macon Hockey Club Inc. In addition to his ownership stake, Wheel was named Vice President of the Macon Trax.
On Monday, Mar. 1, Wheel started the new month with an even bigger stake in the team. The retired Army Reserve Colonel bought an additional 15-percent of the Trax bringing his total to 25-percent.
The purchase is significant because there is no longer any partner that owns more than 50-percent of the franchise. David Waronker still holds the biggest share with his 45-percent ownership.
"I feel Macon is the most stable team in the WHA2." said Wheel, "I feel what better time to add to the franchise than during a playoff and championship run."
In addition to being the team's General Manager, Joe Suk is also a part of the Trax ownership group. Suk is very excited to know the local ownership is growing.
"David [Waronker] has done a great job in owning this team, I mean no disrespect when I say local ownership is best for the Macon Trax." said Suk, "Tom's new purchase is definitely a vote of confidence to the stability of the team and shows his confidence that the Trax will be in the Heart of Georgia for many years to come."
In the next few weeks the Trax will announce plans for playoff tickets for the current season and early bird specials for 2004-2005 season tickets. For further ticket and schedule information call the Trax office at 478-742-4849.
