New York Bluefins News Release
Danbury Whalers goalie Mike Brown stopped 51 of 54 Cape Cod Bluefins shots as the Whalers defeated the Bluefins 6-3 tonight at the Danbury Ice Arena tonight in Federal Hockey League action. The Whalers took advantage of a second-period outburst to win the contest.
The first period saw scoring early and often. Cody Ayres opened scoring for Danbury just 70 seconds into the game before Casey Mignone sniped his fourth goal of the season at 2:11. Matthew Harrington buried a rebound at 5:06 on the power play for his fourth of the season but Danbury got the game level before the period ended. The second period belonged to the Whalers as they scored three times in the middle frame. Julian Fraser expanded the lead to 6-2 before Nick Wheeler drove home his fifth goal of the season at 15:40. All five of Wheeler's goals have come on the man advantage, tops among FHL defensemen.
