Bluefins give Privateers win

WATERTOWN, NY - 1000 Islands Privateers forward Peter Campbell scored with 19 seconds to go in overtime to complete a hat trick and give the Privateers a 5-4 win tonight over the Cape Cod Bluefins in Federal Hockey League action.

The Privateers opened the game on a blue-line blast from Carter Trevasani but Tyler Howe matched the goal at 13:54 of the first period. Tyler Larsen and Casey Mignone earned the assists on Howe's third of the season. Peter Campbell made it 2-1 for 1000 Islands before the opening period ended.

The Bluefins once again came back as Kevin McCready tied the contest 15:04 into the second on the power play from Mignone and Matthew Harrington. Chris Campanale's fifth goal of the season put the Bluefins ahead 3-2 early in the third period with the assist going to Harrington. McCready's second of the night and fifth of the season followed 43 seconds later from AJ Tesoriero.

The 1000 Privateers' Campbell scored his second of the night cut the lead to 4-3 inside two minutes left before Trevasani tied it with the extra attacker with 32 seconds to go. Scott Barchard stopped 48 of 53 Privateers shots in the overtime loss. The Bluefins return to the Cape for a key weekend set against the Danville Dashers. Saturday night the teams will play on Martha's Vineyard at 6:3. Sunday's tilt is scheduled for 3:25 at the Falmouth Ice Arena.
