Williamsport Outlaws News Release
WILLIAMSPORT, PA - Trevor Karasiewicz entered tonight's game with a league leading 19 assists, he skated off the ice with a second star rating and 23 assists after his one goal and four assist effort helped lift the Outlaws over the Danville Dashers by a final of 9-4 in front of the crowd at Airmen Pond.
The Outlaws, who dropped their last meeting against the Dashers last Saturday, came out looking to take control early, which they accomplished with three first period goals. The first coming from Brett Needham at the 5:32 mark from Rob Sich and Nathan Oke. The second and third goals of the period were tallied by Kevin Cooper at the 6:46 and 10:28 marks. Karasiewicz and Matt Smyth were credited with the assists on the first while Jeff Winchester and Smyth were credited with the assists on the second.
The Outlaws continued their scoring behind Cooper, as he notched his third goal of the night at the :26 mark of the period to give the Outlaws a 4-0 lead and their third hat-trick on the season, all of which have come against the Dashers at Airmen Pond. Oke and Kevin Hamel were credited with the assists on the goal.
Chris LeVeille would tally a second period goal at the 11:58 mark from Karasiewicz and Winchester to make it a 5-1 game.
Danville would score twice before the end of the period to make it 5-3 entering the final period of play.
Just like the first period, Williamsport came out looking to put the game away early, and again, they were successful in doing so. Winchester would tally the lone power play goal for the Outlaws at the 3:48 mark from Karasiewicz to make it 6-3.
Karasiewicz would get in the goal scoring act when he found the twine at the 6:29 mark after crashing the net and finding the loose puck in front. Cooper and Hamel picked up the assists on the goal that made it 7-3 in favor of the Outlaws.
Matheson, who scored his first professional goal on Wednesday night, continued the streak with his second goal at the 8:02 mark after crashing the net hard, scoring and then taking out Kyle McClure after the puck went in. Getting the assists were Nick Van Den Beld and Jamie Zaleski, as the entire third line picked up a point.
Smyth would score the ninth and final goal of the night when he went forehand to backhand into the net at the 8:53 mark of the period to give the Outlaws their highest goal output of the season, and a 9-3 lead. Karasiewicz and Hamel picked up the assists on Smyth's 12th goal of the season.
Chris Whitley made 32 of 36 shots faced in another solid performance at home. Whitley also showed great rebound ability after allowing six goals in his last start on Wednesday against 1000 Islands.
The Outlaws will host the Privateers tomorrow night for the third time this week, tomorrow night at Airmen Pond at Historic Bowman Field.
