Karasiewicz Extends League Assist Lead In Outlaws Win

WILLIAMSPORT, PA - Trevor Karasiewicz entered tonight's game with a league leading 19 assists, he skated off the ice with a second star rating and 23 assists after his one goal and four assist effort helped lift the Outlaws over the Danville Dashers by a final of 9-4 in front of the crowd at Airmen Pond.

The Outlaws, who dropped their last meeting against the Dashers last Saturday, came out looking to take control early, which they accomplished with three first period goals. The first coming from Brett Needham at the 5:32 mark from Rob Sich and Nathan Oke. The second and third goals of the period were tallied by Kevin Cooper at the 6:46 and 10:28 marks. Karasiewicz and Matt Smyth were credited with the assists on the first while Jeff Winchester and Smyth were credited with the assists on the second.

The Outlaws continued their scoring behind Cooper, as he notched his third goal of the night at the :26 mark of the period to give the Outlaws a 4-0 lead and their third hat-trick on the season, all of which have come against the Dashers at Airmen Pond. Oke and Kevin Hamel were credited with the assists on the goal.

Chris LeVeille would tally a second period goal at the 11:58 mark from Karasiewicz and Winchester to make it a 5-1 game.

Danville would score twice before the end of the period to make it 5-3 entering the final period of play.

Just like the first period, Williamsport came out looking to put the game away early, and again, they were successful in doing so. Winchester would tally the lone power play goal for the Outlaws at the 3:48 mark from Karasiewicz to make it 6-3.

Karasiewicz would get in the goal scoring act when he found the twine at the 6:29 mark after crashing the net and finding the loose puck in front. Cooper and Hamel picked up the assists on the goal that made it 7-3 in favor of the Outlaws.

Matheson, who scored his first professional goal on Wednesday night, continued the streak with his second goal at the 8:02 mark after crashing the net hard, scoring and then taking out Kyle McClure after the puck went in. Getting the assists were Nick Van Den Beld and Jamie Zaleski, as the entire third line picked up a point.

Smyth would score the ninth and final goal of the night when he went forehand to backhand into the net at the 8:53 mark of the period to give the Outlaws their highest goal output of the season, and a 9-3 lead. Karasiewicz and Hamel picked up the assists on Smyth's 12th goal of the season.

Chris Whitley made 32 of 36 shots faced in another solid performance at home. Whitley also showed great rebound ability after allowing six goals in his last start on Wednesday against 1000 Islands.

The Outlaws will host the Privateers tomorrow night for the third time this week, tomorrow night at Airmen Pond at Historic Bowman Field.

Dayton Comes from Behind to Outlast Danbury

(Dayton, Ohio) Tonight's game featured, the offensive minded Dayton Demonz against the defensive minded Danbury Whalers. Both teams are not use to losing, Coming into tonight's game Dayton had 1 regulation loss while Danbury had 2 regulation loses. In the end Dayton would pull out an 8-6 victory on the shoulders of Ahmed Mahfouz's hat trick, and most importantly his timely goals.

The first period Dayton was not able to expose their explosive offense. Danbury's defensive system neutralized odd man rushes, and limited scoring chances for Dayton, by clogging up the neutral zone.

The Whalers got on the board first at the 3:00 mark. The goal by Cody Ayers was scored off the rush, when he put in a rebound from the high slot.

Danbury increased their lead to 2-0 at 7:28, by working the puck around the Dayton defensive zone. The 2nd goal was scored by, Kamil Vara who took a wrist shot from the top of the left face-off circle.

The Demonz would cut the lead in half on a power-play goal with 13.6 seconds left in the period. Lucas Schott broke through the slot area, and received beautiful pass behind the net pass from Nicholas Petriello. The period would end 2-1.

The second period provided wide-open play by both teams, along with chippy play (a total of 84 penalty minutes would be called between both teams for the game).

Four goals were scored by both teams in the 2nd frame, along with both starting goalies being ejected for fighting.

A minute into the period Jesse Felten would tie the game at 2-2. Felton "willed" his way into the slot with the puck, and put it past the Danbury goalie.

A couple of minutes after Dayton killed-off a 4 minute Danbury power-play, Luke Flicek's goal at 5:45 gave Dayton the 3-2 lead.

The Whalers would tie the game at 3-3 at 7:38 on a goal by Cody Ayers. Dayton would retake the lead 4-3 at 14:09 on Ahmed Mahfouz's door-step goal.

Danbury's Mike Atkinson's short handed goal would tie the game at 4-4 at 15:29. Danbury would add two more goals for a 6-4 lead on goals by Tyler Noseworthy and Kamil Vara's second of the game at 17:43.

The Demonz Luke Flick's goal at the 18:25 mark made it 6-5 to end the second period in favor of Danbury.

Dayton would score 3 unanswered goals in the final frame.

At the 10:39 Mark Pawl ski made a beautiful pass to Ahmed Mahfouz who was alone in the low slot; Mahfouz made a quick deke on the Danbury goalie and put it into the net, to tie the game at 6-6. Dayton would cushion their lead and victory on goals by Ahmed Mahfouz's hat trick and game winner at 16:33. Jason Hill created a Whaler turnover on Dayton's 8th goal of the evening at 17:47.

1000 Islands Downs Cape Cod in Overtime, 5-4

WATERTOWN- The 1000 Islands Privateers came from behind to pull off an overtime win against the Cape Cod Blue Fins. The Privateers pulled out the win with a 5-4 score in front of almost 1,300 fans.

The Privateers struck first on a Carter Trevisani goal in the first period to give the home team a 1-0 lead. The score came with 15:22 left in the period with an assist from Peter Campbell. The Blue Fins tied the score on a score by Tyler Howe with 12:54 left in the period. Peter Campbell scored his second point of the period with his first goal of the night.

The second period made the game a tied game. The Blue Fins tied up the game with a goal by Kevin McCready 15:04 into the period.

The third period opened with two goals by Cape Cod to give them an early momentum. Chris Campanale score with 16:39 left in the period and was followed by Kevin McCready's second goal of the night. The Privateers found themselves with their backs up against the wall. Peter Campbell answered for the team scoring with 1:55 left in regulation to cut the score by one. Carter Trevisani then tied the game with 31 seconds left to ensure overtime.

In overtime the Privateers overpowered the Blue Fins. Peter Campbell scored his third goal of the night, the game winner.

The Privateers move to 9-6 with the win tonight. The Privateers will look to win their tenth game of the season tomorrow night in Williamsport against the Outlaws.
