Whalers Down Spirit 7-3 in Plymouth

On Thanksgiving Eve, the Saginaw Spirit were downed by the Plymouth Whalers by the score of 7-3 in Plymouth. Scoring for the Spirit were Garret Ross, Jamie Oleksiak, and Terry Trafford. Jake Paterson made 38 saves in goal for Saginaw.

The Spirit got out to a fast start over Plymouth, scoring the first two goals of the game, thirty seconds apart from each other, early in the period. Garret Ross scored the first Spirit goal, from Josh Shalla and Michael Fine. Jamie Oleksiak then scored right after on a blistering shot from the point, assists going to Carlos Amestoy and Vince Trocheck. Plymouth would fight their way back scoring three unanswered goals heading into the intermission off the sticks of Rickard Rakell and two from Stefan Noesen.

Alex Aleardi would score the first goal of the second period for the Whalers, extending their lead to 4-2. Saginaw's Terry Trafford would answer right back however, putting the Spirit back within a goal of the Whalers, his first goal of the season. A little over two minutes later, Mitchell Heard would score the fifth goal of the night for the Whalers, extending the Whaler lead to 5-3.

Plymouth would go on to score two more goals in the third period off the sticks of Garrett Meurs and Alex Aleardi to skate to a 7-3 victory over the Spirit on Wednesday night.
