Norwich Sea Unicorns News Release
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - Wet field conditions on Saturday afternoon forced a postponement of the final two games in a three-game series between the Connecticut Tigers (22-22) and Staten Island Yankees (25-20) at Richmond County Bank Ballpark.
Friday's game was postponed due to wet field conditions and the rescheduled Saturday doubleheader will be made up in Norwich. The Tigers will host a doubleheader against the Yankees at Dodd Stadium on Saturday, August 11 beginning at 5:05 p.m. and another doubleheader on Sunday, August 12 beginning at 3:05 p.m. All four games in the two-day series are scheduled for seven innings.
The Tigers do not return to Staten Island this season. Connecticut lost the road series opener on Thursday in a ninth-inning walkoff victory by the Yankees, 3-2. The Tigers are 3-1 against Staten Island this season.
On Sunday, the Tigers will open a three-game home series at Dodd Stadium against the Stedler Division-leading Tri-City ValleyCats at 4:05 p.m. The family-friendly start time features Have a Catch presented by the Connecticut Municipal Electric Energy Cooperative. All kids are encouraged to bring their glove and have a catch in the outfield after the game. Sunday also features Kids Run the Bases courtesy of Ben & Jerry's. Following each Sunday and Wednesday home game, all kids are invited down to the field to take a lap around the bases and get a coupon for a free ice cream cone at Ben & Jerry's in Mohegan Sun.
