Batavia Muckdogs News Release
Today's Game- Batavia hosts the first-place Mahoning Valley Scrappers today in the final game of a three-game series. Batavia is 4-4 on the season against the Scrappers, with five of the seven total games being decided by just one run.
That was last night- The Muckdogs put up back-to-back games with eight runs against Mahoning Valley with last night's 8-2 win. Batavia had to battle back from down 2-0 in the fifth, but unloaded for six runs in the sixth inning. The Muckdogs tacked on one more with a Brayan Hernandez HR, and a single in the eighth.
Osborne's outstanding- JD Osborne has been one of Batavia's top bats this season, hitting for a .340 average in the 29 games he has played in, including ten multi-hit games. He has the best OPS on the team with a .921, which had swelled to 1.001 in the month of July.
Two-out trouble- The Muckdogs have had issues getting out of innings once they've reorded two outs. Batavia has given up a .287 average with RISP and two outs. Of Batavia's 233 runs against, 96 of them have crossed the plate with RISP and two outs.
Donadio digging in- Michael Donadio has now hits in 18 of his last 23 games. He's tallied 28 hits, two home runs and has crossed the plate nine times in that span. He is second on the team with four home runs. He left St. John's with the second most all-time hits with 268.
Reynolds Raking- Sean Reynolds has been able to find the power in his bat this season. He currently leads the league in home runs and is second in the lead in the league in RBI's and also leads the league in runs scored. He is also the league leader in walks with 31. Reynolds currently stands in second in the NYPL in extra-base hits
Close Calls- Batavia has played a total of 45 games this season, 27 of which have been decided by two runs or less. The Muckdogs are 14-13 in those games. Batavia has the fourth best reord in one-run games, and the worst record in two-run games at 2-6.
Recent Roster Action- On August 1st, RHP Jameson McGrane was assigned to the Batavia Muckdogs, and LHP Martin Anderson was released.
Marlins Update- The Phillies topped the Marlins 5-1 on Friday night. Former Muckdog Brian Anderson drove in a run on a two hit performance in Philadelphia
