Las Vegas Wranglers News Release

Las Vegas, NV - The Las Vegas Wranglers(r) announced today that they have agreed to terms with forward Ryan Weston for the 2010-11 season. The team also announced that they have agreed to terms with defenseman Kevin Schaeffer.

Weston, 26, returns for his second season with the Wranglers and his third professional season overall. A native of Henniker, NH, Weston split his time between Las Vegas and San Antonio of the AHL in the 2009-10 season, appearing in 21 games with the Wranglers for 15 points and 23 games with the Rampage for four points. Previously the 6-2, 205-pound forward played for Boston University form 2004 through 2008, where he skated in 146 games. Weston began his professional career with the AHL's Albany River Rats, appearing in 70 games from 2007 to 2009.

"Ryan Weston is the ultimate professional and power forward at this level," said Wranglers GM/Head Coach Ryan Mougenel. "Although we only had Ryan for 21 games last year, he showed that he can be a dominant player at the ECHL level."

Schaeffer begins his fourth professional season, his first with the Wranglers, in 2010-11. The 25-year-old spent four years at Boston University, three of which he was teammates with Weston. In his 152 games with Boston, Schaeffer earned 54 points. Schaeffer, a South Huntington, NY native, was selected by the Nashville Predators in the sixth round (#193 overall) of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. During his professional career, Schaeffer has split time between teams in the ECHL and AHL, playing for Reading and Charlotte of the ECHL and Providence, Binghamton, Hartford and Lake Erie of the AHL. In 2009-10, Schaeffer appeared in 52 games with the Charlotte Checkers and added 12 points, also skating in seven games with the Lake Erie Monsters and 11 with the Hartford Wolf Pack last season.

"Kevin, who has had significant time in the AHL, is also a force in the ECHL," said Mougenel. "We will look to Kevin to make it tough on the opposition and to log significant minutes with our hockey club in all situations."

The Las Vegas Wranglers(r) are the ECHL affiliate to the National Hockey League's Phoenix Coyotes and the American Hockey League's San Antonio Rampage.

The Wranglers host Opening Night on Friday, October 22nd, 2010 at 7:05 pm against Victoria. 2010-11 season seat packages are on sale now at (702) 471-PUCK. The Wranglers play all 36 regular season home games at the Orleans Arena, located adjacent to the Orleans Hotel and Casino at 4500 W. Tropicana Avenue.
