Westerners Road Trip - Roll Over North Adams
July 2, 2011 - New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL)
Danbury Westerners News Release
After making a mess of what looked like a potential sweep of the SwampBats on Friday evening, the Danbury Westerners fashioned a picture perfect rout of the Steeplecats in North Adams on Saturday behind of the dominating pitching of Nick Williams.
The Westerners were composed and determined in Joe Wolfe Stadium, which has been home to numerous Westerners disappointments over the years, as Williams mowed-down nine Steeplecat batters while Mike Ford (Friday afternoon's dominating pitcher against Keene), Tanner Krietemeier, Kyle Convissar, Kyle Richardson and all pecked away at Steeplecats pitching to earn a satisfying 8-2 victory for Danbury.
To make matters worse for North Adams, the evening was punctuated in the ninth as Krietemeire, who had two hits in the game including a two rbi triple in the 8th, took the mound in the final frame to mow down two of the final three Steeplecat batters.
The Westerners take the long bus ride to Newport tonight to try to exasperate the pesky Gulls in a 1:00PM game in Ocean City on Sunday. After a well deserved evening of revelry in Newport on Sunday night, they travel to Montpelier to meet the Mountaineers on Monday evening.
On Tuesday they return home to play the Mystic Schooners. On Wednesday the Holyoke Blue Sox return on Danbury Police Night. Saturday kicks-off Parent's Weekend as the Mountaineers invade Rogers Park for a Saturday - Sunday twin bill. Hartsburg Chiropractic to support DCF will be Saturday's sponsor and Sunday is Jimmy Fund Night.
Follow all this weekend's action on TEAMLINE. The video broadcast is only $1.99 for each game over the Holiday weekend.
