Knoxville Smokies News Release
Sevierville, Tenn. - West Tenn.(23-18) scores 7 runs in the top of the 7th to break a 2-2 tie and go on to defeat the Tennessee Smokies (22-20) by the score of 9-2.
The Diamond Jaxx pitching staff lead by starter Sean Marshall cooled off the hot bats of the Smokies batters by allowing only 2 runs on 5 hits. Relief pitcher Scott Chiasson earns the win and now improves to 2-0 on the season.
The Smokies only offensive highlight came when Corey Erickson belted a two run homerun in the bottom of the sixth to tie the score at 2.
Tyler Johnson took the loss for the Smokies giving up 6 runs on 4 hits in a 1/3 of an inning. Johnson now falls to 0-2 for the season.
The Smokies now go on an 8 game road trip starting Saturday night at Carolina. The Smokies will return home on May 31st vs the Carolina Mudcats at 3:00 P.M.
