West Seneca Native Mason Rejoins Destroyers

(BUFFALO, NY)-The Buffalo Destroyers announced today West Seneca native and Syracuse University star WR/LB Kevin Mason has signed to the practice squad. Mason played for the Destroyers from 1999-2002.

Mason began his Destroyers career as a quarterback before moving to the wide receiver/linebacker spot. Mason ranks fifth all-time in games played for Buffalo with 30. He ranks fourth all-time with 23 touchdowns, seventh in all-purpose yards with 1,083, seventh in receptions with 63 and sixth with 944 receiving yards.

"Kevin brings size and speed to the wide receiver position," said Destroyers head coach Ron Selesky. "We are concentrating on him learning the system and offense. Hopefully, we can get him on the field soon.

The team also announced a few other roster moves today as they prepare for their first place showdown with the Las Vegas Gladiators this Sunday at noon at the HSBC Arena.

OL/DL Silas Demary has been placed on injured reserve with a sprained left MCL and is expected to be out for two-four weeks. OL/DL Terry Grooms has been activated from IR after missing two weeks with a broken thumb. OL/DL John Summerday, who signed to the practice squad last week, signed to the active roster and will be in uniform on Sunday. QB Chris Sanders was signed back to the practice squad after spending three weeks on the active roster. Former Destroyers WR/DB Hassan Probherbs has also signed to the practice squad. Probherbs was on Buffalo's practice squad last season and appeared in 12 games for the Destroyers in 2001 with 22 receptions for 302 yards and five touchdowns.

The team also announced it has waived OL/DL Gonzalo Floyd and WR/LB Anthony Payton.

The Destroyers will salute the men and women who serve in the armed forces and public safety at Sunday's game. The will pay tribute to all military, active and reserves from the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard along with all public safety personnel from our local police, fire and emergency services departments.
