
West Defeat East in 2014 Frontier League All-Star Game

SAUGET, Ill. - Normal outfielder Mike Schwartz took home the MVP honors and the West Division edged the East Division 2-0 in front of 5,043 fans at the Frontier League All-Star game Wednesday night at GCS Ballpark.
Schwartz, who is batting .356 on the season for the CornBelters, earned the honor after going 2-for-3 with two singles, a walk and a run.
In a game that was dominated by the pitchers, the West only collected four hits and the East managed just six hits in the game.
The West pushed across the only two runs of the game in the fifth on a Justin Vasquez (Schaumburg) run-scoring single and a passed ball. Lake Erie right-hander Jordan McCoy suffered the loss for the East.
Rockford right-hander Gerardo Sanchez pitched a scoreless fifth inning to notch the All-Star win.
