Buffalo Destroyers News Release

(BUFFALO, NY) - The Buffalo Destroyers announced the signing of WR/LB Bobby Olive this afternoon. Olive played offensive specialist for the Destroyers from 1999-2001 but appeared in only two games for the Destroyers in 2001 after being injured.

Olive began 2002 in training camp with Buffalo but was cut prior to the pre-season He then signed with the Carolina Cobras only to be waived six days later. Olive has not played in 2002.

"We are really excited to have Bobby back," said Destroyers head coach and general manager Ray Bentley. "He has a lot of heart which I think will provide a tremendous impact on the team. He is 100% recovered from his knee injury and I can't wait to have him play."

Olive holds the Destroyers team record for career receptions (179) and receptions in a game (17 vs. San Jose July 9, 1999). He had his best season in 2000 when he set team records for receptions in a season (106), yards in a season (1,184), touchdowns in a season (15) and all-purpose yards in a season (1,450).

"I'm excited to be back in Buffalo," said Olive. "I feel like a rookie again. The hardest part is coming back from an injury, but I worked hard in the off-season. This is a ready-made team with Fred (McNair), Lamont (Cooper) and Carlos (James). I'm here to be a leader and add a spark to the team."
