Port Huron Fighting Falcons News Release

PORT HURON, MI - The Port Huron Fighting Falcons, proud members of the North American Hockey League and leaders of the North Divsion, return to McMorran Arena this weekend when they host the second-place Johnstown Tomahawks Friday and Saturday night. Opening faceoff for each game is set for 7 p.m.

Port Huron leads the NAHL's North Division with 51 points and an overall record of 22-8-7, and is one only three NAHL teams to have eclipsed 50 points this season. Johnstown is seven points behind Port Huron at 44 points, with a 21-16-2 record.

The Fighting Falcons are 4-2-2 against the Tomahawks this season. These teams have not faced off since they split a weekend series at McMorran Arena in mid-December.

Defenseman and Port Huron native Alex Archibald leads Port Huron with eight points on two goals and six assists in eight games against Johnstown so far this season. Archibald tallied two assists during the last series between the Fighting Falcons and the Tomahawks.

Fighting Falcons goalie Alex Blankenburg has won all three of his starts since returning from a month-long albescence due to injury in late December. At 12-1-0 on the season, Blankenburg's lone loss came in his last start against the Tomahawks in Johnstown on November 22. Max Milosek is 3-1-1 with a goals against average of just 2.13 against Johnstown this season.

Port Huron Northern Bryce VanHorn enters the weekend series on a three-game home point streak, as the forward has one goal and two assists in his last three games at McMorran Arena.

The Fighting Falcons lead the NAHL with 3.38 goals per game, and they are the only team in the league with less than ten regulation losses. Port Huron is tied with league-leading Amarillo, having earned at least one point in 29 of their 37 games this season. Amarillo has played 39 games so far this season, compared to Port Huron's 37.

Despite holding second place in the North Division standings, the Tomahawks have allowed more goals (113) than they've scored this season (111).

The Fighting Falcons are just two regular season wins away from 100 all time, and when win #100 comes, they will celebrate with a $100 giveaway.
