Odessa is the second-most penalized team in the South at 677 and Shreveport is third with 637. The Jackalopes have scored 82 of their 102 goals from even-strength hockey. As for the Mudbugs, they have registered 74 of their 109 goals this season from even strength. Shreveport's powerplay is at 17% which ranks them 20th in the NAHL. Odessa's powerplay is at 11.9% which is last in the league. The Mudbugs have allowed six short-handed goals this season which is tied for the second most in the league. However, they are tied for fourth in shorthanded goals scored with five. Odessa has only scored one short-handed goal this season which is the fewest among all NAHL teams. In comparison, last season the Jackalopes had ten shorthanded goals.

Just two weeks ago these two teams faced off against one another in Shreveport, LA. Odessa won both games by a score of 2-1. Last weekend, however, the Mudbugs swept Lone Star and the Jackalopes split with New Mexico. This means Odessa is now eight points out of a playoff spot. The last four losses Odessa has had were all by a one-score margin. This weekend will be the final home games for Odessa until next month. A strong performance by the Jacks this weekend could set them up for success during their road trip. That will feature matchups against Oklahoma and Lone Star.

Shreveport has scored the first goal in a game 22 out of 38 games this season. When doing so they have a record of 16-3-1-2 which gives them a 0.795 winning percentage. Putting them sixth overall in the NAHL. Odessa has scored the first goal in 19 games this season and has a record of 11-7-0-1 (0.605%) when doing so. However, the Jackalopes have scored 40 first-period goals this season which is the sixth most in the NAHL. The Mudbugs have only allowed 15 goals in the first period this season which is the fewest in the league. Shreveport averages 2.87 goals per game which is 16th overall and Odessa averages 2.83 per game which is 19th.

PLAYERS TO WATCH:

Mudbugs (F: #17 - Drake Morse)

The Grand Rapids, MI native is in his final year of junior eligibility. The 20-year-old played his rookie season in the NAHL last year with the Mudbugs and totaled 48 games (6G, 9A). The 6'1"/185lb. right-handed forward currently leads the team in assists (21) and points (33). Morse has 15 points (6G, 9A) in his previous ten games. He is also one of three Mudbugs players that will represent the South Division at the upcoming Top Prospects Tournament. Morse also leads his team in power-play goals (5) and short-handed goals (2). He has played in three games against Odessa this season and has two assists.

Jackalopes (F: #22 - Emerson Goode)

The Anaheim, CA native is also in his last year of juniors. The 6'1"/175lb. left-handed forward leads the team in goals (22), plus/minus (12), and is third in points (28). The 20-year-old spent his rookie season in the NAHL last year with Odessa (50GP, 12G, 16A). Finishing eighth on the team in points. The Ferris State University commit was awarded second star of the week for the South Division after putting up five points (4G, 1A) in two games. Goode even recorded his first career hat trick last weekend. He has scored two goals in four games against Shreveport this season.
