
Weekend Preview: Caps and Gamblers Set for Battle in Weekend Home-And-Home Series

The fourth ranked Madison Capitols (12-7-2) engage in battle with the Green Bay Gamblers (8-10-0-1) this weekend in a home-and-home series.
Friday night's contest will drop the puck at Bob Suter's Capitol Ice Arena where the Caps are a healthy 7-3-1 this season. Madison owns the fourth best home record in the USHL. Away from Capitol Ice this season, Madison is 5-4-1 record. The Caps and Gamblers will wrap up the weekend at the Resch Center in Green Bay on Saturday night.
The Capitols rank second in the USHL with 90 goals. Of those 90, 45 of them have been scored on home ice, which also ranks second among all USHL squads. Madison is 7-3-0 in their last 10 home contests.
Coming into the weekend, the Capitols specials teams is up there with the best in the league. Operating at 25.0% on the season, Madison's power play is fourth in the league. In their last four games, the Caps have scored five power play goals.
The Capitols are led by Badger commit and captain Jack Horbach, who has tallied 22 points this season. Horbach is averaging 1.05 points per game which is tied for the team lead. Madison leads the USHL with 11 players in double digits for points. No other team has more than 10.
On the blueline, the defensive pair of Ben Dexheimer and Luke Mittelstadt have combined for 36 points this season. Dexheimer enters the weekend on a four game point streak, tallying seven points in that span.
Friday's puck drop is slated for 7:05 PM on the final $1 Beer Night of 2021 and Saturday night's series finale drops the puck at 6:05 PM.
