THE SERIES: It will be the seventh and eighth meetings of the season between the Amarillo Bulls and the Texas Tornado. The Bulls lead the season series 4-1-1 despite posting just a single point in Frisco the last time out. Forward Mike Davis leads the Bulls with three goals and five assists for eight points, while TJ Sarcona has a goal and six assists for seven points. Six different players each have two goals. Goaltender Paul Berrafato has posted four wins and a goals against average of 1.63. Forward Scott Conway leads the Tornado with seven points, while Justin Greenberg has collected four goals.
WEEKEND REWIND: The Amarillo Bulls split games with the Topeka RoadRunners in their last trip to the state of Kansas during the regular season. The Bulls dropped a 1-0 decision but rebounded to beat the RoadRunners 3-1. Goaltender Paul Berrafato had an excellent weekend in goal. Ryan Cole, Clint Carlisle and Gage Christianson tallied for Amarillo.
Meantime, the Texas Tornado posted two one-goal victories 3-2 and 4-3 in a shootout in Wichita Falls against the Wildcats. Defenseman Nick Neville had both game winning goals.
WHAT IS AT STAKE: It's a showdown of the top two teams in the South Division as the Texas Tornado hold a narrow one point lead over the Amarillo Bulls. The hometown Bulls have three games in hand, and the highest winning percentage in the NAHL. The Tornado's 170 goals is the most in the NAHL, but the Amarillo Bulls have the fewest goals against in 85.
STREAKS AND TRENDS: The Texas Tornado head into the game with the hottest streak in the NAHL, winners of ten on a row. The Amarillo Bulls have not lost in regulation (5-1-2) on home ice since December 2nd when they were beaten 3-2 by the Corpus Christi IceRays. Sixteen of the Bulls 29 wins have come when they have outshot an opponent. Forwards TJ Sarcona and Ryan Cole each have five goals in their last 10 games.
