Kalamazoo Jr. K-Wings News Release

Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Jr. K-Wings, proud members of the North American Hockey League, announce a number of roster moves that have taken place in the last week. The J-Wings have traded for Wenatchee Wild defenseman Dillon Eichstadt as well as the Springfield Jr. Blues' Mike Fazio.

Eichstadt, an 18-year-old defenseman who hails from Bemidji, Minnesota, comes over to Kalamazoo after being dealt for future considerations. The 5-10 defenseman has played in 24 games during his rookie campaign, and has posted nine points on two goals and seven assists. He has also played to a +4 rating throughout the season. Head Coach Marc Fakler called him a "very skilled puck moving defenseman, who should make an immediate impact."

In a separate move, the Jr. K-Wings have traded forward Davis DeKorte and future considerations to the Springfield Jr. Blues in exchange for forward, Mike Fazio. Fazio is a three-year veteran of the NAHL, and since the 2010-11 season, has bounced around from Austin, to Bismarck, along to Chicago, and most recently Springfield. The 20-year-old forward from Bartlett, Illinois has scored 51 points in 118 career games, having netted 22 goals and tallying 29 assists. This season, Fazio has scored 11 goals, added 16 assists, for a total of 27 points in 44 games. He also added 152 shots on goal for the Jr. Blues. The veteran forward was the captain of Springfield, and should add an element of goal scoring, toughness, and leadership.

"He'll provide more veteran leadership," said Fakler, "and there is no doubt that he will help the production of our offense."

In yet another roster move, Kalamazoo has released defenseman Cole Pierce.

With just sixteen games left in the season, and tied for first place in the North Division, the Jr. K-Wings are making these late moves to insure that they can make a push come playoff time. They sit idle this weekend, and will take the ice again Friday, February 8th, at 7:05 PM, as they head to Flint to take on the Michigan Warriors. It is the first of three games in three days for the Jr. K-Wings.
