FRIDAY, MAY 6

MANCHESTER WOLVES 46, Louisville Fire 37 (Attendance: 6,123)

MANCHESTER, N.H. - The Manchester Wolves (4-1) handed the Louisville Fire (4-1) their first loss of the season by a score of 46-37 to create a three-way tie with Green Bay for first place in the East Division. Both teams traded scores during the first half until Manchester forced a missed field goal at the end of the second quarter. Manchester took advantage with the first possession of the second half on a touchdown pass from QB Jake Eaton to WR/LB J.J. McKelvey to put the Wolves up by two possessions. Eaton threw for six touchdowns and 230 yards on 19 of 26 passing with no interceptions and rushed for a score. McKelvey caught three touchdown passes. For Louisville, WR/LB Rob Mager caught ten passes for 104 yards and two scores. QB Matt Sauk completed 30 of 45 passes for 288 yards and four touchdowns with no interceptions. Manchester's DS William Haith broke up seven passes and registered 12.0 tackles (6UA 12A), including an assisted tackle for loss.

SATURDAY, MAY 7

Albany Conquest 52, MACON KNIGHTS 37 (Attendance: 3,105)

MACON, Ga. - The Albany Conquest (2-3) used a third quarter surge to leave Georgia with a win over the Macon Knights (2-4). Macon held a 21-20 lead at halftime after OS Kendrick Lee returned a botched Albany extra point try for two points. Albany started the second half with a touchdown pass from QB D Bryant to WR/DB Manwell Talbert. On Macon's possession Ol/DL Oby Arah sacked QB Lionel Hayes in the endzone to record a safety. Then Albany's OS Jeremiah Pope caught a 29-yard touchdown pass on third down to put Albany in control. Pope finished the game with seven catches for 102 yards and three touchdowns. Macon's WR/DB Matt Jackson caught two passes for 60 yards and a touchdown white intercepting a pass on defense. Jackson also rushed once for 11 yards and scored on a two-point conversion.

Bakersfield Blitz 75, BOSSIER-SHREVEPORT BATTLE WINGS 40 (Attendance: 1,776)

BOSSIER CITY, La. - The Bakersfield Blitz (2-3) jumped on the Bossier-Shreveport Battle Wings (1-5) early and never looked back, cruising to a 75-40 victory. Bakersfield's rookie quarterback Jason Thomas was on target all night completing 18 of 21 passes for 247 yards and seven touchdowns with no interceptions to lead Bakersfield to a franchise record 75 points. Thomas completed passes to six different receivers with OS Eric Mahanke catching three scores and WR/DB Nathan Munson catching two. Munson also recorded two interceptions on defense, including a ten-yard interception return with only seven second left in the first half. For the Battle Wings, OS Bo Smith set a career high in return yards with 181 including a 49-yard kickoff return, his third game in a row with a kickoff return. FB/LB Fred Perry rushed the ball five times for 42 yards and a touchdown for the Battle Wings.

Central Valley Coyotes 64, TULSA TALONS 63 (Attendance 5,027)

TULSA, Okla. - The Central Valley Coyotes (4-1) bested their win total from last season with a dramatic 64-63 victory over the Tulsa Talons (3-2). With 27 seconds left FB/LB Corky Martin rushed from nine yards out to put the Talons up 63-57. The Coyotes would only need one play to respond with a 33-yard touchdown pass from QB Juston Wood to WR/DB DeRonn Finley, leaving Tulsa with only 17 seconds to respond. After QB Josh Blankenship threw two incomplete passes the Talons were given ten yards on a roughing the passer penalty. K Nick Browne came on to attempt a game winning 39-yard field goal. The kick went wide right to give Central Valley sole possession of first place in the West Division. Tulsa's WR/LB Donovan Morgan finished the game with 14 receptions for 195 yards and six of Blankenship's eight touchdown passes. For Central Valley, Wood completed 28 of 43 passes for 396 yards and nine touchdowns with no interceptions.

AMARILLO DUSTERS 58, Quad City Steamwheelers 48 (Attendance: 4,001)

AMARILLO, TEXAS - With six seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, K Jeremy Hershey put one through the uprights to give the Amarillo Dusters (4-1) the 51-48 edge and the only lead they would need for a victory over the Quad City Steamwheelers (3-2). Dusters QB Julian Reese added three rushing touchdowns to his league leading 12 scores on the ground. Reese also completed 21-of-34 passes for 254 yards and three touchdowns. His output was nearly matched by Quad City QB Sam Clemons who went 23-of-32 for 209 yards and five touchdowns in the loss. Dusters lineman Joe Massey had 2 solo tackles, 1 sack, 1 hurry, and 1 batted ball on the night earning him ADT Defensive Player of the Game honors. Amarillo's OL/DL Tommy Balom earned the U.S. Army Ironman of the game Award. Offensive Player of the Game honors went to Hershey.

Green Bay Blizzard 48, ARKANSAS TWISTERS 35 (Attendance: 6,921)

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - The Green Bay Blizzard (4-1) continued on their best start in team history as they won 48-35 against the Arkansas Twisters (0-5) Saturday night at the ALLTEL Arena. New Twisters' head coach John Gregory wasn't able to pull out the victory in his af2 coaching debut, mainly because of the impressive display of defense by the Blizzard. Blizzard WR/LB Robert Garth dominated with 9 catches for 106 yards and four touchdowns as well as returning an interception for a touchdown. Garth earned both the Offensive Player and U.S. Army Ironman of the Game Awards for his performance.

MEMPHIS XPLORERS 43, Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz 38 (Attendance: 3,242)

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - DS Dahnel Singfield earned ADT Defensive Player of the Game honors while leading the Memphis Xplorers (5-1) to a 42-38 victory over the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz (2-4) Saturday night at the DeSoto Civic Center. Singfield took control on defense with four tackles, four pass deflections, and one vital interception in the end zone. For the third time this season, Xplorers' QB Brian Jones won the Offensive Player of the Game Award as he went 21-of-31 for 339 yards with four touchdowns as well as two scores on the ground. U.S. Army Ironman of the game Ryan Karr caught one TD on five receptions for 91 yards to go along with his three tackles in the Xplorers victory.

SOUTH GEORGIA WILDCATS 69, Birmingham Steeldogs 49 (Attendance: 4,935)

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Quarterback Bobby Pesavento and receiver Matt Burstein were just too much for the Birmingham Steeldogs (0-5) to handle as they connected five times through the air for touchdowns in the 69-49 South Georgia Wildcats (1-4) win Saturday night in Birmingham. Pesavento went 24-of-33 for 228 yards and eight touchdowns in a dominant showing. Matt Burstein caught 10 passes for 141 yards and five touchdowns, earning him Offensive Player of the Game honors. The Steeldogs were led by WR/DB Herman Bell who couldn't lead his team to their first win of the season as he pulled in 8 catches for 110 yards and two touchdowns. Bell's imposing presence earned him the status of U.S. Army Ironman of the Game. ADT Defensive Player of the Game honors went to the Wildcats' WR/DB Rob Keefe who collected 5.5 tackles in the game.

RIO GRANDE VALLEY DORADOS 51, San Diego Riptide 45 (Attendance: 4,540)

HIDALGO, TEXAS - QB Josh Kellet went 16-of-31 for 222 yards and 5 touchdowns to lead the Rio Grande Valley Dorados (2-3) to a 51-45 victory against the visiting San Diego Riptide (1-4) Saturday night. The Dorados rebounded from a 32-13 deficit by lighting up the scoreboard for 23 points in the fourth quarter to pull off the victory. The Riptide were lead by OS Nakoa McElrath who pulled in 8 receptions for 153 yards and two touchdowns to go along with his 111 kickoff return yards. The Dorados defense shut out the Riptide in the third quarter allowing themselves to make it just a 32-28 San Diego lead due to an outstanding performance by WR/DB Marquis Floyd. Voted ADT Defensive Player of the Game, Floyd caught 2 touchdowns and returned an interception for a touchdown for the Dorados.
