UPCOMING GAMES AND PROMOTIONS
Tuesday, November 6 - Knoxville at Columbus, 7:30 PM EST (Last Season vs. KNX: 6-0-2)
The Cottonmouths host the Knoxville Ice Bears on Tuesday night at the Snake Pit. The Snakes dominated Knoxville last season, going undefeated against the `Bears in regulation. Knoxville is 2-1-0 on the young season, dropping a 4-1 opening night decision to Fayetteville before a pair of wins last weekend at home against Huntsville and in overtime at Augusta. The Ice Bears are coming to terms with the departure of perennial league MVP Kevin Swider, but other familiar names have returned such as Mark Van Vliet, last season's SPHL Defenseman of the Year; and forward Emery Olauson, who scored a league-leading 44 goals last season.
PROMOTIONS: Georgia Lottery Night/$2 Night - The Georgia Lottery will drop 300 scratch-off tickets via parachute from the rafters of the Civic Center during intermission (must be 18 or older to win) and enjoy $2 concessions all night on select food and drink items.
Friday, November 9 - Columbus at Mississippi Surge, 8:05 PM EST (Last Season vs. MSS: 3-3-1)
The Cottonmouths will travel to Biloxi on Friday night to take on the Mississippi Surge. The Surge have already been on either end of a shutout game this season as Pensacola's Steve Christie shut them out in their season opener at home on October 27, with last season's SPHL Co-Rookie of the Year Kiefer Smiley shutting out the Mississippi RiverKings 2-0 on Saturday night. The Surge are 1-1-1 on the year as they dropped a 5-4 shootout decision to Pensacola on Friday. The Cottonmouths went 3-3-1 against Mississippi last season and has only one regular season victory in SPHL history in Biloxi, a 2-0 shutout win for goaltender Andrew Loewen and the Snakes last March in the last visit to the Mississippi Coast Coliseum for the Cottonmouths.

Goaltenders Andrew Loewen of Columbus and Marco Emond of Fayetteville matched each other save for save through the first two periods of Saturday night's game at the Crown Coliseum. Fayetteville opened the scoring early in the third, but Jonathan Redlick answered less than a minute later for Columbus with his first professional goal. The game remained tied at 1 until a FireAntz goal with 72 seconds left in regulation, giving Fayetteville the 2-1 win to keep them undefeated on the season. Alex MacLeod and Bret Tyler assisted on Redlick's goal. Loewen finished with 37 saves on 39 shots on goal while Emond turned away 21 of the 22 Snakes shots on goal he faced. Both teams were scoreless on the power play with Columbus going 0 for 2 and Fayetteville 0 for 5.
