SHOCK NO. 1 IN COACHES POLL: The Spokane Shock have maintained the No. 1 ranking in the Week 12 Coaches Poll, the arenafootball2 (af2) league office announced on Wednesday. The Shock collected 447 of a possible 448 points and 27-of-29 first place votes in securing the top position for the second consecutive week. Spokane stayed perfect in 2008 at 10-0 after an impressive 17-point win at Boise this past Saturday, 68-51. The Shock are the only remaining unbeaten team in the af2. The defending ArenaCup Champion Tulsa Talons (9-1, 411 points, 2 first place votes) earned the No. 2 position outright this week on the strength of a 70-40 home win against Lubbock. Tulsa's Week 11 victory was important because it helped the Talons increase their lead in the Central Division to two games over the No.6-ranked Renegades. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (8-2, 377 points) improved one place to No. 3 as the team rebounded from a Week 10 road loss to Manchester with a convincing road win at Albany, 69-27. The Florida Firecats (8-2, 357 points) slipped two spots to No. 4 after a 12-point loss at Manchester, 47-35. Tennessee Valley is a new entry into the Top-5 this week. The Vipers (7-3, 330 points) defeated No. 11 Lexington at home last week, 64-48. The victory was the seventh straight for Tennessee Valley.

GILLIAM "PICKS" UP ARENA GAME QUICKLY: Spokane rookie DB SERGIO GILLIAM (6-2, 195, Clemson), who broke the Shock team record for most interceptions in a season in Week 10 with his 11th of the year, snatched two more in the team's Week 11 road win at Boise. The rookie from Clemson now has a league-leading 13 interceptions on the season. Former Tennessee Valley Viper standout KELLY SNELL set the current league standard for most interceptions in a season with 15 in 2003. Snell is the current defensive coordinator for the Arkansas Twisters.

DOWN TO ONE: Entering Week 12 of the season, there is only one team that remains undefeated - the Spokane Shock (10-0). The Shock, off to their best start in team history (4th best start in af2 history), are currently ranked No. 1 in the Weekly Coaches Poll. Spokane remained undefeated in 2008 after a 68-51 Week 11 road win at Boise. The Shock play at Tri-Cities (4-6) this Saturday at Toyota Center. Below is a chart detailing the best starts in af2 history.
