Mahoning Valley Thunder News Release

BOARDMAN, Ohio- The Mahoning Valley Thunder in conjunction with the arenafootball2 League Offices are pleased to announce that Chris Archie has been assigned to the team. A Wide Receiver, Archie played in 11 games during the Thunder's inaugural 2007 season, all of which were starts.

Archie was regarded as one of the most dangerous offensive players in the league in 2007. The 6'4, 218 pounder finished '07 with 89 receptions for 1,010 yards and a team leading 22 touchdowns. Archie's six 100 yard receiving games are a Thunder record. Chris' name will forever be etched in Thunder history, he scored the first ever Thunder touchdown when Glen Gauntt found him in the end zone in the 2007 season opener versus Tri-Cities.

The former University of Cincinnati Bearcat's name can be found at or near the top of a number of Mahoning Valley records. Archie is the Thunder career leader in points (132), 100 yard games (6) and touchdowns (22). He ranks second in receptions in a season (89), receptions in a game (13), and receiving yards (1,010).

Chris played in six games for the af2's Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz earlier this season. In those six games, Archie caught 31 passes for 319 yards and three touchdowns. He also rushed twice for an additional 20 yards. Archie is expected to be in uniform and start tomorrow night's game when Mahoning Valley plays host to the Manchester Wolves. In 2007, Archie set single game highs for receptions (13) and receiving yards (140) in an April game against the Wolves. Archie will be wearing jersey number 3.

THUNDER RECEIVER CHRIS ARCHIE:

"I can't express how great it feels to be back with the Thunder. Some other teams were interested in me but as soon as Coach Hold called I knew Mahoning Valley was where I wanted to be. I enjoyed playing here last season in front of these fans and for this organization. I think they're building something special here and I want to be a piece of that puzzle. It's been a pretty smooth transition coming back because I'm familiar with the coaches and some of the players. I already know the playbook so I expect to come out and make an impact right off the bat, I can't wait to get out there Friday night!"

The Mahoning Valley Thunder return home Friday, June, 13th on Cortland Banks Field inside the Chevrolet Centre to host the division rival Manchester Wolves! Be a part of all the action in 2008 as the Thunder continues their climb towards the ArenaCup9 Championship. Individual tickets are on sale now starting at just $12. Group Outings and Birthday Parties for individual games also available. For more information call the Thunder Offices at 330.758.4af2 (4232).
