Weather Woes Rain out Opening Day
June 24, 2016 - Appalachian League (ApL)
Pulaski River Turtles News Release
A beautiful day turned into a wet one as Opening Day weather woes led to a suspended game through almost four innings of play. There will be a doubleheader against the Danville Braves. Game one is slated to begin at 6 p.m. with the gates opening at 4:30 p.m. Game one will be a continuation of tonight's game picking up where teams left off in the fourth inning and they will play the full nine innings. There will be a break between games and game two will be a shortened seven innings.
Danville was leading Pulaski 5-3 through four innings. The Braves plated five in the third inning off of starter Chad Martin but Pulaski chipped away at the lead in the fourth with home runs from both Kevin Cornelius and Dermis Garcia before the sky started falling.
Fans may save their ticket stubs which can be exchanged for a ticket of equal or lesser value for one of the remaining 2016 regular season home games. Seating is based on availability. Ticket stubs must be presented in order to get the rain check. Tickets for tomorrow's game will allow fans to see both games.
