Weather Cancels Series Finale in Green Bay

GREEN BAY, WI - The 6:05 p.m. game between the Madison Mallards and Green Bay Bullfrogs Saturday was canceled due to severe weather at Joannes Stadium. The game will not be made up, as it would have been the final game between the Mallards and Bullfrogs this season, and the Northwoods League schedule does not allow a makeup date before the postseason begins. Madison will finish the season with 69 games played.

The Mallards were ahead of the Bullfrogs 2-1 in the top of the fourth inning before heavy rain and wind caused a delay. After a long break, umpires determined that the field was not safe to resume play. Not enough innings were played to make the game official, and all action that took place before the weather delay will be erased from the stat lines for both teams.

The Mallards really could have used Saturday night as a way to get back into the South Division race, as they entered play 3.5 games behind the Bullfrogs for first place. Now, with only right games left, the Mallards will have to hope for a lot of things to go their way in order to make the postseason for the first time since 2008.

The Mallards will now return to the "Duck Pond" for one game against the Battle Creek Bombers, with first pitch scheduled for 5:05 p.m. Sunday evening.
