Corpus Christi IceRays News Release

Corpus Christi- The Corpus Christi IceRays of the Central Hockey League are pleased to announce that WD Sports Texas Inc., and Port Aransas businessman Doug Frank have assumed control of the franchise, and is now the IceRays primary ownership. WD Sports, who also own the CHL's New Mexico Scorpions, take over operations from the previous franchisee, Corpus Christi Hockey Partnership, LTD and owner Bill Davidson.

"We're aware that there is a great deal of work ahead of us," said Frank, "but it's important to get things back on the right track. I'm committed to hockey, and being a fan of the IceRays since day one, I'm committed to having hockey here in Corpus Christi."

Frank, 48, is a native of Scottsbluff, Nebraska and a graduate of the University of Denver, a traditional collegiate hockey powerhouse. Frank gained his passion for hockey while skating on frozen ponds in the Nebraska winters. He previously owned and operated West Hudson Inc. of Dallas, a healthcare consulting firm, and is the current owner of Island One Marine and Island One Sports in Port Aransas, Texas in addition to the Scorpions.

After purchasing the Scorpions in the summer of 2001, Doug made significant changes in nearly every aspect of New Mexico Scorpions hockey. He spruced up Tingley Coliseum with the ever-popular Tingley Vision big screens, enabling fans to get up close and personal with all of the action from whichever seat they were in.

"The Corpus Christi IceRays have enjoyed tremendous support since their franchise inception in 1998, and we thank General Partner Bill Davidson and his partners for their cooperation in facilitating this transition and their efforts in bringing professional hockey to Corpus Christi," said CHL President Brad Treliving. "We are pleased that the future of IceRays hockey in Corpus Christi is extremely bright under the directions of WD Sports."
