Laredo Bucks News Release

(12/10/02) After taking three out of a possible four points in a weekend series with Lubbock, the Laredo Bucks are four points behind first-place Austin in the Central Hockey League's Southeast Division. The Bucks defeated Lubbock 3-1 on Friday at the Laredo Entertainment Center, then rallied with three goals in the third period on Saturday to force overtime and earn a point in Lubbock. The Cotton Kings won the overtime shootout in the twelfth round to win, 5-4, but the Bucks' point gave them 27 overall, four fewer than the Ice Bats. The Bucks are now 12-6-3 overall and 12-2-3 since an 0-4 start.

Chris Grenville continues to pace the Bucks' offensive attack. Grenville racked up three goals and two assists in two games last week, and he now ranks ninth in the CHL with 29 points. The Bucks' player/assistant coach has scored nine goals in his last ten games. Michel Periard leads CHL defensemen with eight goals, and he ranks fifteenth overall in the league with 26 points. Serge Dube is tied for eleventh among defensemen with 14 points. Eric Schneider, recalled Monday by San Antonio of the American Hockey League, currently leads the CHL with 38 points.
