Wave's Win Thursday Night in Dallas Keeps Playoff Chances Alive

The 7-time champion Milwaukee Wave needed to win Thursday night on the road to keep their playoff hopes alive and they did, defeating the Sidekicks in a hard-fought battle at the Credit Union of Texas Event Center.

"I just love how the guys played brave and responded tonight," said Head Coach Giuliano Oliviero. "We executed great the first half, had a rocky third quarter and fought back hard in the fourth. This win feels good."

Milwaukee Wave forward Ian Bennett scored his 400th point in the Major Arena Soccer League six minutes into the match off a nice assist from Mario Alvarez and didn't stop there. Bennett added a goal and two assists on the night for a total of 403 points, joining Leo Gibson (Kansas City) and Franck Tayou (Ontario) in the MASL's 400 Club.

"He's true professional that is just built different," proclaimed Oliviero, "The way he prepares himself for training and in games; he deserves every accolade the he gets. We're all really proud of him and we know he's not done yet. He's a great ambassador for the MASL."

Other Wave goals were scored by, Luan Oliveira (3G), Daniel Mattos (2G, 2A), Kyle Crain and Alex Bradley.

After tonight's win the Wave are still in the playoff hunt with two games to go. The top 8 teams in the league advance to the MASL Playoffs. Milwaukee currently sits in 9th and trails St. Louis by a Head-to-Head tiebreaker. The Ambush has three games left in their season and face Kansas City Saturday night in Independence, Missouri. Kansas City then travels to Milwaukee for the Sunday afternoon 1pm game at UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena.

"We know it's going to be a very tough game against the Comets," added Oliviero "But here we are still in mix and fighting for our playoff lives. We're in it, to win it and looking forward to Sunday."
