Milwaukee Wave News Release
The Milwaukee Wave extends its winning streak to 11 games after a fourth quarter rally gives them a 12-6 victory against the Chicago Soul at the Sears Centre in Chicago. This is only the third time in team history that the Wave had an 11 game winning streak. The Wave take the momentum heading into tomorrow night's game at home against the Soul as they try to set a franchise winning streak record.
In the first quarter it was the outstanding goalkeeping of the Wave's Nick Vorberg and Chicago's Jeff Richey that led to a scoreless game at the end of the quarter. The Soul would be the first on the board as Christian Meza put one in the net at the beginning of the second quarter to make it 2-0. The Wave would answer with a goal by Ian Bennett, tying the game at 2-2. The score would remain tied heading into half time.
The Soul would benefit from an early Wave penalty on Jonatan Santos, as former Wave player Pablo scored on a power play to give Chicago a 4-2 lead. The teams would continue to play tough throughout the quarter, but near the end of the third Aaron Nichols extended the Soul's lead to 6-2 on his first goal of the season. The Soul would hold on to that lead heading into the final quarter.
The Wave began their rally in the fourth quarter on a goal by Hewerton making it 6-4. They tied the game at 6-6 on a goal by Joe Hammes, and soon after the Wave would grab their first lead of the game when Tenzin Rampa found tht back of the net making it 8-6. Ian Bennett and Hewerton would each add their second goals of the game to give the Wave 12-6 victory and extend their winning streak to 11.
The Wave and Soul are back at it tomorrow at 6 pm at The U.S. Cellular Arena. A special Chipotle dinner and a game package is available for Saturday's game. It includes four burritos, sodas, and game tickets. Season tickets, flex plans and single-game tickets are also on sale.
