Last Week's Outings:

MILWAUKEE (Dec. 14, 2007) - Wave 6, Storm 8

Branko Savic's goal with 2:29 remaining gave the Chicago Storm an 8-6 victory over the Milwaukee Wave on Friday at U.S. Cellular Arena in a matchup of I-94 rivals for first place in the MISL.

Chicago (7-1) hosts the Wave (6-3) tonight at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates, Ill., in a rematch.

The Wave held a 6-2 lead early in the third quarter, as Marcio Leite made a gorgeous move and then worked a give-and-go with fellow Brazilian Deco for Leite's 10th goal of the season. Leite also had an assist to lead the Wave offensively.

Randy Soderman scored 2 minutes later, getting free on a nice individual move, to begin the Storm's comeback. He tied the game with 8:35 left in the third on a blistering volley. Chile Farias assisted on that goal and also was responsible for the game-winning assist.

Both goalkeepers played a sparkling game. Nick Vorberg had 14 saves for Milwaukee and Jeff Richey totaled 16 for the Storm. Milwaukee killed off a pair of power plays and Chicago handled the only one it faced.

Greg Howes scored the first Wave goal on his fifth restart marker of the year, a screamer from the top of the arc that Richey was ready for but still couldn't prevent.

CHICAGO (Dec. 15, 2007) - Wave 9, Storm 6

Giuliano Oliviero and Greg Howes each scored a pair of goals as the Milwaukee Wave went on the road Saturday night and knocked off the first-place Chicago Storm 9-6 in a Major Indoor Soccer League game.

The Wave (7-3) returned to within a half-game of the Storm (7-2) and are alone in second.

Milwaukee trailed 2-0 at halftime before Oliviero broke up a 63-minute scoreless drought on an assist from the 19-year-old rookie Deco.

The game's key play took place with 8:50 left in the third quarter. A collision between the Wave's Jonathan Santos and the Storm's Matthew Stewart resulted in a red card and ejection against Stewart, the Storm's No. 4 scorer. On the resulting two-minute power play, Howes struck his first 3-pointer of the year to make it 5-2. Oliviero added one more goal before the end of the quarter and the Wave led 7-2 entering the final period.

The Storm - who had outscored foes 32-6 in the fourth quarter heading into the game - scored a goal with 46 seconds remaining to get within 9-6, but couldn't forge the tying goal with the help of a sixth attacker.

Goalkeeper Nick Vorberg limited an opponent to less than 10 points for the third game in a row and improved to 6-3. Chicago's Jeff Richey had a 15-game regular-season winning streak halted.

Pele signs Harley-Davidson Bike for Wave

So why did Pele put an upside-down signature on the Milwaukee Wave of Kindness Harley-Davidson Sportster 883 XL?

Widely considered the greatest soccer player of all time, Pele was known for his dazzling bicycle kicks ... which require him to leap and flip himself upside down before whipping the ball over his head. So Pele made his legend upside down. It's only fitting the signature matches.

The signature was applied to the black side cover of the custom-painted 2008 Harley-Davidson on Saturday, Dec. 1, when Pele was in New Jersey for the home debut of the Major Indoor Soccer League expansion franchise New Jersey Ironmen. It joins those of Olympic gold medalist Bonnie Blair, Packers legends Fuzzy Thurston and Gilbert Brown and Wave coach Keith Tozer.

Raffle tickets will be sold all year long for the bike at Wave games and soon at www.milwaukeewave.com. Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5. Signatures will be added throughout the winter and the Harley will appear at different venues throughout southeastern Wisconsin, as well as at all Wave games.

Proceeds will benefit Milwaukee Wave of Kindness, which is a nonprofit organization dedicated to developing soccer among inner-city youth. Wave of Kindness provides clinics, camp scholarships, game tickets and other programs.
