(Southfield, Mich., December 19, 2007) - The Detroit Ignition (6-3) will take on the first place Chicago Storm (7-2) Saturday at the Sears Centre Arena. The Storm is led by former Ignition forward Carlos "Chile" Farias, who has notched 22 points so far this season.

December 22, 2007: Detroit Ignition (6-3) at Chicago Storm (7-2)

The Detroit Ignition will face the Chicago Storm for the first time this season on Saturday, December 22 at 8:00 pm (EST). Chicago forward Stephen Armstrong earned MISL Offensive Player of the Week honors following his two-goal performance that lead the Storm past Philadelphia, 9-2, on December 8. Fox Soccer Channel will broadcast the game on tape-delay on Friday, December 28 at 8:00 pm (EST).

LAST WEEK'S OUTINGS:

December 14, 2007 Ignition, 22 Sharks, 6 - The Detroit Ignition (6-3) defeated the expansion Orlando Sharks (0-11), 22-6 Friday night at Amway Arena in Orlando.

The Ignition's assault started early as Worteh Samspon and Hewerton Moreira both scored two-point goals within the first minute of play. Midfielders Ryan Mack and Vahid Assadpour added two-point scores of their own to put the Ignition up 8-2 at the end of the period. Defenders Droo Callahan and Josh Rife scored four more points for Detroit in the second period to put the Ignition up 12-4 at halftime.

Moreira scored his 100th and 101st career point at 4:28 in the third quarter with a two-point score off an assist from defender Jonathan Greenfield. Two minutes later, Sampson scored the 25th goal of his Major Indoor Soccer League career to bring the score to 16-6. Ignition midfielder Doug Rice would close out the quarter for the club with a two-point goal off an assist from the reigning MISL Most Valuable Player, Jamar Beasley.

Moreira and Sampson would both finish the night with a hat trick, as each scored a two-point goal in the game's final stanza to bring the final score to 22-6.

December 15, 2007 Ignition, 10 La Raza, 14- The Detroit Ignition (6-3) were defeated 14-10 Saturday night by the expansion La Raza de Monterrey (4-7) in front of a sell-out crowd at Compuware Arena.

La Raza jumped out to an early 6-0 lead as the Ignition were held scoreless throughout the first half. Ricardinho scored Detroit's first points of the night at 2:31 in the third quarter with a two-point score off an assist from Kyt Selaidopoulos. At 4:49, Monterrey forward Dino Delevski responded with another two points for the visitors. Ignition midfielder Ryan Mack cut La Raza's lead in half at 9:40 in the third period with a two-point goal to bring the score to 8-4.

Selaidopoulos, Jamar Beasley and Ricardinho all scored goals for Detroit in the fourth quarter, but the come-back wasn't enough to overtake La Raza who won the game 14-10.
