MILWAUKEE (March 15, 2005) â The Milwaukee Wave defended the number one spot in the league with a victory over the Kansas City Comets this weekend, on Sunday, March 13, 10-3. The teams met three weeks ago (2/25, 2/26) for a back-to-back series in Kansas City. The Wave swept the weekend series, taking an 8-3 decision on 2/25 and a 6-1 victory on 2/26. On Sunday, the Wave saw the return of forward Todd Dusosky from the inactive-injured reserve list, as Todd scored the game-winning goal for the Milwaukee. During Sunday's game, the Wave raised more than $7,000 through the Green Jersey Auction, benefiting the Children's Hospital of Wisconsin. Milwaukee and Kansas City meet again for the last time in the regular season in Kansas City on March 31.
This week Milwaukee will host the St. Louis Steamers on Sunday, March 20 at "The Cell," U.S. Cellular Arena. Wave vs. St. Louis Steamers 2004-05 Series: 3-3

Milwaukee and St. Louis meet for the seventh time this season on Sunday afternoon at "The Cell." The two teams met earlier this month (3/3) in St. Louis for a school-day game at 11 a.m. The Wave fell to the Steamers 6-5 at the Savvis Center, snapping Milwaukee's six-game winning streak. Since that loss, the Wave recovered to beat the Philadelphia KiXX (3/6) 6-5 OT and Kansas City Comets (3/13) 10-3. The Steamers play the Kansas City Comets on Saturday, March 19 before traveling to Milwaukee on Sunday for the 1 p.m. game at "The Cell."
Following this Sunday's match, the Wave and Steamers meet once more in the regular season on April 16 in St. Louis.
Last Time Out: 3-13 vs. Kansas City â In front of 4,975 fans at "The Cell", forward Todd Dusosky made his return to the Wave lineup and scored the game-winning goal at 4:43 of the second quarter. The Wave reactivated Todd from the inactive-injured reserve list after an ankle injury sidelined him in the Jan. 8 game versus the Balitmore Blast. The Wave dominated the first half with five unanswered goals, two by Greg Howes, and three others from Johnny Torres, Matt Schmidt and Todd Dusosky (GWG). After the half, Kansas City scored a pair of goals in the third quarter by Dino Delevski (1:27) and Ibrahim Kante (6:43). Despite the Comets efforts in the fourth quarter with a lone goal, the Wave took a pair between the posts by Guiliano Oliviero and Semir Mesanovic to end the Wave's victory at 10-3.
3-6 vs. Philadelphia - Greg Howes collected his league-leading fifth game-winning goal and the Milwaukee Wave secured a 6-5 overtime victory against the KiXX on Sunday afternoon. The teams traded goals early in the match with Milwaukee's Hewerton and Giuliano Oliviero and Philadelphia's Ptah Myers and John Barry Nusum putting points on the board. The Wave took a 4-2 lead heading into the intermission following a red card ejection on Philadelphia's Gary Brooks for violent conduct. Chris Morman converted the power-play goal following the ejection and Greg Howes added a goal at 11:31 of the second to take the two-point lead. Milwaukee extended its lead to 5-3 before Philadelphia rattled off three unanswered goals to tie things up at 5-5. Kevin Sloan collected the lone goal of the final period at 14:11 to send the game into overtime. Nine minutes into the extra session Joe Hammes sent a long outlet pass that bounced off the end board and over the head of a KiXX defender forcing Philadelphia goalkeeper Peter Pappas to come out high, which allowed Greg Howes to send the game-winner into the back of the empty net.
Vorberg Earns Goalkeeper of the Week Awards: Nick Vorberg adds yet another award to his 2004-05 total after turning away 15 of 18 shots in Milwaukee's 10-3 victory over the Kansas City Comets on Sunday afternoon. With his performance, Vorberg earned his league-leading 17th win of the season and increased his save percentage to .764, also the best in the MISL. He has now won four Goalkeeper of the Week Awards this season (tied for the most in the league) and was named the Goalkeeper of the Month for December and February.
Todd Dusosky Returns to Wave Lineup: Following several weeks on the inactive-injured reserve list and intense conditioning to come back to full speed, Dusosky obtained clearance from team physicians and trainers to return to Milwaukee's lineup last week. He started in his first appearance since being reactivated, and came out strong, collecting five points on one goal and four assists. His return was made possible by the trade of Nino Marcantonio to Kansas City in exchange for the Comets second round draft pick in the 2005-06 Major Indoor Soccer League College Draft.
Milwaukee Wave Organization Announces Summer Plans: Although not affiliated with the USL for the summer outdoor season, the Wave United (Milwaukee's outdoor entity) announced plans for the Festival Soccer Tour 2005 in a press conference held Thursday, March 10. Karl-Heinz Granitza, the Chicago Storm General Sales Manager and 2003 National Soccer Hall of Fame inductee, will serve as one of the season's honorary coaches.
