Milwaukee Wave News Release

MILWAUKEE (Sunday, March 13, 2005) – The Milwaukee Wave blasted past the Kansas City Comets 10-3 in front of 4,975 fans at "The Cell," U.S. Cellular Arena on Sunday afternoon (3/13). Todd Dusosky was stellar in his return to the Wave line-up, collecting the game-winning goal and four assists for five points. Greg Howes added three goals and an assist, and Giuliano Oliviero tallied one goal and two assists. The win marks the first time the Wave has scored double digits in the 2004-05 campaign; the last time was April 3, 2004 against the Baltimore Blast when the Wave won 10-9.

Milwaukee took an early lead as Todd Dusosky slipped a cross-field pass to Greg Howes for the score at 3:28. Today was Dusosky's first appearance since an ankle injury sidelined him on January 8. The Anoka, Minnesota native kept things rolling when he found Johnny Torres at the top of the arc for the score at 7:56.

The Wave got on the board just 13 seconds into the second quarter as Kansas City goalkeeper Chris Damico had come out high and Dusosky was able to push the ball to defender Matt Schmidt to give the Wave a 3-0 lead. Dusosky continued his offensive attack as he tallied the Wave's fourth goal (game-winning goal) of the match at 4:43. Oliviero dribbled down the left side and sent the pass to Dusosky on the low post for the score. The Wave went on the power-play following a tripping penalty on Casey Barton. Dusosky and Howes teamed up for the second time on the day, as Dusosky fed the ball back to Howes for Milwaukee's fifth unanswered goal at 13:13.

Kansas City collected its first goal of the match early in the third period as Dino Delevski (1:27) was able to blast a shot past Wave keeper Nick Vorberg. Milwaukee responded to increase its lead back to five as Schmidt (3:58) tallied his second goal in the match off the assist from Hewerton. Kansas City's Ibrahim Kante took the pass from Fabinho and sent the ball to the far post for the score midway through the third quarter. The Wave pushed its lead to 8-2 as Oliviero found Howes (10:55) off the restart and Michael King fed Marcelo Fontana, a little more than two minutes later (13:45).

The Comets got on the board first in the final period as Delevski found Oswaldo Valdivia at the 2:25 mark. Pat White then sent a long outlet pass to Oliviero (8:39) who dribbled in against Damico, beating the keeper and sending the ball to the back of the empty net. The Wave increased its lead to 10-3 as Semir Mesanovic tallied his eighth goal of the season at 10:48.

The Wave takes a 4-0 advantage against the Comets in the 2004-05 campaign. The two teams will meet one more time in the regular season on March 31 in Kansas City.
