January 19, 2013 - Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL)
Milwaukee Wave News Release
The Wave extended their winning streak to a franchise record 12 games after a 9-5 victory over the Chicago Soul. It was the Wave's second win in a row against the Soul, and the fourth against them on the season.
The Wave got things started with a goal by Jonatan Santos midway through the first quarter, giving them a 2-0 lead. Thanks to stellar defense, neither team scored a goal the remainder of the quarter and the Wave remained up 2-0.
The defensive battle continued throughout most of the second quarter, but Ian Bennett scored his third goal in two games to extend the Wave's lead to 4-0. Carlos "Chile" Frias would put one in the net to trim the Wave's lead to 4-2 heading into half.
In the third quarter Giuliano Oliviero made it 6-2 in favor of the Wave. The Wave's lead remained at four. In the fourth Hewerton would blast a 3-pointer to make it 9-2. Chicago's Carlos Munoz answered back with a goal of his own for Chicago cutting the Wave's advantage to 9-5. Marcel Feenstra would keep the Soul at bay for the remainder of the quarter to give the Wave their 12 straight win.
The Wave next play on the road Thursday, January 25th at Wichita. They return home Saturday January 27th to take on the Chicago Soul. A special Chipotle dinner and a game package is available for Saturday's game. It includes four burritos, sodas, and game tickets. Season tickets, flex plans and single-game tickets are also on sale.
