The 7-time champion Milwaukee Wave are getting back into the swing of things and preparing for the annual New Year's Eve game at UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena Saturday afternoon against Utica City FC at 3:05pm CT.

"We've had a level of intensity at practice that I've never seen before," said Head Coach Giuliano Oliviero. "We've got competition within the team and guys fighting for a spot on the roster and then we've got a very capable Utica team coming to town; it's only going to make us better and we are looking forward to it."

In what a turned into a family tradition for many over the decades, there is nothing like the fast paced, non-stop action of a Milwaukee Wave Professional Indoor Soccer game and you don't even have to be a fan of soccer to appreciate it.

"It's our most exciting game of the year," added Oliviero. "We always have an electric atmosphere no matter who we're playing on New Year's Eve but we want to finish 2022 on a winning note and head into the new year with our eyes on the prize."

MILWAUKEE WAVE NEW YEAR'S EVE HISTORY BY TOM WYNN, LONGTIME PLAY-BY-PLAY VOICE OF THE MILWAUKEE WAVE.

The Milwaukee Wave has played 28 prior home games on NYE, the last 24 in consecutive seasons. Wave is 19-9 in those games. Last year's 6-5 loss to KC broke a four game NYE winning streak. First NYE game was 12/31/84 v Canton.

12/31/84. Canton. L, 6-7

12/31/85. Chicago. W, 7-4

12/31/90. New York. W, 15-10

12/31/95. Wichita. W, 18-9

12/31/97. Harrisburg L, 9-13

Wave has never played Utica on NYE. However, they did beat Syracuse 20-10 on 12/31/13. #
