Milwaukee Wave News Release

MILWAUKEE, WI (December 3, 2005) - Just like last season, the St. Louis Steamers gave the Milwaukee Wave all they could handle on the Wave's home turf. The hard-fought game had many heroes, but Todd Dusosky closed out the overtime game the way he started it, with a goal. Dusosky's score at 5:56 in OT kept the Wave undefeated at 5-0 this season.

The game started with the Wave once again outscoring their opponents in the first quarter. This time it was 1-0 with Todd Dusosky scoring the quarter's lone goal. It was the fourth consecutive game the Wave scored the first goal.

Down 1-0 to start the second stanza, the Steamers showed they wouldn't go down without a fight and tallied two quick scores to take a 2-1 lead. Shaun David scored off a Mike Apple pass and Apple followed with a goal of his own about two minutes later. It looked as if both defenses would hold from there, but Mike Apple tallied his second score of the quarter with 37 seconds remaining in the half. The Steamers headed to the locker room with a 3-1 lead; the first time the Wave has trailed at the half this season.

Early in the second half, the Wave thought they had pulled within a goal, but Eduardo Sebrango's goal was disallowed as a handball was called as the ball was heading into the net. Shortly after that, D.J. Newsom gave the Steamers a three goal lead. A Milwaukee penalty put St. Louis in prime position to take command, but Marcelo Fontana gave the Wave a boost with a shorthanded score and Milwaukee trailed 4-2 through three quarters.

Local hero and last week's MISL Defensive Player of the Week, Chad Dombrowski, scored for the second consecutive week to make the score 4-3 with about 10 minutes remaining. Another Wisconsin native, Matt Schmidt, tied the game at four with less than four minutes remaining. Giuliano Oliviero picked up the assist on that play, his third of the game.

With 44 seconds remaining, Sandre Naumoski gave St. Louis a 5-4 lead. Milwaukee went with a sixth attacker and pressured the Steamers until Oliviero tied the game with one second on the clock. Milwaukee capped off their comeback with Todd Dusosky's second goal of the game at 5:56 in overtime.

The next Wave game will be on Friday, December 9 at 7:05 p.m. against the Philadelphia KiXX. The game is Milwaukee's "college night" as Pat McCurdy will be performing a post-game concert. For more information on tickets, please call the Wave office at 414-224-WAVE (9283); groups of 10 or more can receive discounted rates. The game can be heard on Joy 1340 AM or via webcast on the Wave's website, www.milwaukeewave.com.
