Milwaukee Wave News Release
(Milwaukee, WI) The Milwaukee Wave (3-1 home / 2-1 road / 5-2 overall) is getting ready for what promises to be a difficult challenge as it battles both of its rivals in the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) Central Division this upcoming weekend. Milwaukee travels to St. Louis for the first meeting of season against the Steamers (6-2) Friday night (12/3, 7:35 PM) at Savvis Center in St. Louis, MO before returning home to host the Chicago Storm (5-3) Saturday night in a 6:05 PM match-up at U.S. Cellular Arena. Both games will air live on www.milwaukeewave.com, with Friday's tilt also airing on 540 AM, WRRD ("The Word').
The Wave is coming off an 8-7 setback to the Storm this past Friday at the UIC Pavilion in Chicago, IL. The Storm built up an 8-3 lead through the first three periods only to see the Wave respond with four unanswered goals in the fourth quarter. Milwaukee nearly tied it up with the extra attacker in the waning moments of the contest; however, a Michael King's shot with 45 seconds to go cracked off the cross-bar and Chicago was able to hang on for the win. The Storm has now captured two-of-three from the Wave this season, with five more to go in the I-94 series.
Saturday is also Froedtert and Medical College of Wisconsin Sports Medicine Center Work-Out with the Wave and Team Picture Card Night, with the first 5,000 fans receiving a Wave Team Picture Card courtesy of Froedtert. It's also the annual Teddy Bear Toss Game, with all fans encouraged to bring unused stuffed animals to toss on the field after the Wave scores its first goal. The stuffed animals will be collected and donated to Toys for Tots.
Tickets for all Wave home games ($20, $16, $14, and $12) are available at the Wisconsin Center District (WCD) Box Office, located between U.S. Cellular Arena and the Milwaukee Theater at 510 W. The U.S. National Futsal Team, coached by Wave Coach Keith Tozer and featuring Wave players Greg Howes, Todd Dusosky, Johnny Torres and Pat White is currently participating in the FIFA Futsal World Championship in Chinese Taipei. The MISL-dominated U.S. squad also includes: Sean Bowers and Steve Butcher (San Diego); Pat Morris, (Philadelphia); Jamar Beasley (Kansas City); John Ball (Cleveland); Andy Guastaferro (Chicago); and recently retired ex-Baltimore goalkeeper Scott Hileman. All but Torres, Butcher, Beasley, and Morris played for the U.S. team which qualified for the FIFA tournament by winning the CONCACAF title in Costa Rica this past summer. The U.S. squad has posted the following results thus far
First Round (Group C)
Date Opponent Result U.S. Goals
11/21 Italy L, 3-6 Torres, Dusosky, Morris
11/23 Paraguay W, 3-1 White, Tschantret, Torres
11/25 Japan T, 1-1 Guastaferro
The U.S. mark of 1-1-1 (four points) was good enough to claim second place in the group behind Italy (3-0-0, nine points) and ahead of Paraguay (1-2-0, three points) and Japan (0-2-1, one point) to clinch a spot in the second round. The top two teams from each of the 4 four-team groups advanced to the second round.
Second Round (Group F)
Date Opponent Result U.S. Goals
11/28 Argentina L, 1-2 Torres

The top two teams from Group F, as well as the top two from Group E, which includes defending champion Spain, Italy, Portugal, and Czech Republic will advance to Friday's (12/3) single-elimination semi-finals. The Gold Medal Game is scheduled for Sunday (12/5).
Futsal, the international version of indoor soccer, is a derivative of the outdoor game played with five players on each side (four field players and a goalkeeper) utilizing a limited-bounce ball on an open (wall-less) court slightly bigger than a basketball court. The U.S. Team has now qualified for four-of-five FIFA Futsal World Championships (1989, 1992, 1996, 2004).
Wave on Radio / Internet: All road games may be heard live on 540 AM, WRRD ("The Word") with air time for each broadcast approximately 15 minutes prior to kick-off. All games may be heard live on the Wave website at www.milwaukeewave.com.
